Abstract

"MéTODOS E MEIOS PARA MODULAR A BIOSSìNTESE DE CELULOSE EM PLANTAS PRODUTORAS DE FIBRAS". A presente invenção fornece os genes quiméricos para uso na modulação (ou seja, aumento ou diminuição da) biossíntese da celulose e/ou qualidade da fibra em uma planta que produz fibra como planta de algodão, e métodos de modulação da biossíntese da celulose que empregam os genes quiméricos. A invenção também fornece células de planta e plantas que compreende os genes quiméricos da invenção assim como sementes de tais plantas que compreendem os genes quiméricos da invenção. A presente invenção também fornece métodos para identificação variações alélicas dos genes que codificam proteínas envolvidos na biossíntese da celulose em uma população que compreende diferentes genótipos ou variedades de uma espécie de planta particular.
