Abstract

"FILTRAçãO DE CONTEúDO PARA NAVEGAçãO NA REDE". A presente invenção proporciona um sistema e método para controlar se um usuário pode acessar certos sítios da Internet ao usar um computador. O sistema e o método são realizados em um computador pessoal tendo um cache de categorização local, um renovador de cache, um interpretador de categorização local e uma lista de permitido-bloqueado. Quando o usuário do computador tenta acessar um sítio da Internet referido por um Localizador de Recursos Uniformes ("URL") , especificado, a invenção determina se o URL está referido na lista de permitido-bloqueado e, se estiver, autoriza ou desautoriza, de acordo, o acesso a sítio referido pelo URL. Se o URL não estiver referido na lista de permitido-bloqueado, a invenção obtém uma categoria de conteúdo quer seja a partir do cache de categorização local ou, se não contido no mesmo, de um serviço de categorização. Se a categoria de conteúdo pode ser vista por uma pessoa no grupo de idade do usuário, como determinado mediante referência a um mapa de grupos de idade, correlacionando o grupo de idade às categorias que têm permissão para serem vistas por cada tal grupo de idade, o interpretador de categorização local permite acesso ao sítio da Internet referido pelo URL especificado; caso contrário, o acesso não é autorizado. Uma cópia das configurações para o usuário, tal como grupo de idade, lista de permitido-bloqueado e mapa de grupos de idade, é armazenada em um serviço de configuração de conteúdo de modo que as configurações do usuário podem ser acessadas e usadas em qualquer computador que o usuário estiver operando.
