Abstract

"FIBRAS TIPO FITA DE POLIPROPILENO DE BAIXO ENCOLHIMENTO E PROCESSOS PARA SUA PRODUçãO". São fornecidas melhorias na prevenção de problemas de encolhimento por calor e umidade em fibras específicas tipo fita de polipropileno. Tais fibras são basicamente manufaturadas através da produção inicial de filmes ou tubos de polipropileno que são então cortados em várias fibras tipo fita muito finas, embora chatas (e tendo razões de aspecto de seção transversal muito altas). Tais fibras (e, portanto, os filmes e/ou tubos iniciais) exigem a presença de certos compostos que rápida e efetivamente proporcionam rigidez à fibra de fita de polipropileno objetivada após cura por aquecimento. Geralmente, estes compostos incluem qualquer estrutura que forma núcleos de cristais de polímeros no interior do polipropileno objetivado, após exposição a calor suficiente para fundir o polímero inicial peletizado permitindo que, depois, que este fundido se resfrie. Os compostos devem formar núcleos de cristais poliméricos em temperatura mais alta do que o polipropileno objetivado sem o agente de nucleação, durante o resfriamento. Dessa maneira, os compostos nucleadores de 'rigidificação' proporcionam sítios de nucleação para o crescimento de cristal de polipropileno. Após o corte do filme e/ou inicial, a fibra é exposta a um aquecimento suficiente para que a rede cristalina se desenvolva, mantendo, assim, a fibra na posição desejada. Os compostos de 'rigidificação' preferidos incluem compostos baseados em dibenzilideno sorbitol, bem como compostos menos preferidos, como benzoato de sódio, certos sais fosfato de sódio e lítio (como 2,2<39>metileno-bis-(4,6-di-t-butilfenil) fosfato de sódio, conhecido também como NA-11). Métodos específicos de fabricação de tais fibras tipo fita da invenção, bem como artigos têxteis feitos com elas, são também incluídos na invenção.
