"ESTIMULADOR ELéTRICO PARA TRATAMENTO DA INCONTINêNCIA URINáRIA FEMININA". O pedido de privilégio de invenção trata de estimulador elétrico para tratamento da incontinência urinária feminina constituído por circuitos eletrónicos responsáveis pela geração de pulsos bifásicos de corrente elétrica aplicados a musculatura pélvica através de probe de estimulação transvaginal (figura 2), introduzida na vagina da paciente. Esses pulsos produzem contração muscular e treinam os músculos que podem atuar no controle das perdas involuntárias de urina. O equipamento estimulador é totalmente programável pela interface serial de computadores pessoais e portátil, podendo ser utilizado pelas pacientes em seus domicílios. A técnica de estimulação elétrica transvaginal é considerada uma alternativa conservadora e eficaz para tratamento da incontinência urinária feminina, conforme diversos trabalhos de pesquisa realizados, inclusive no próprio Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre, bem como isenta de efeitos colaterais."ELECTRIC STIMULATOR FOR TREATMENT OF FEMALE URINARY INCONTINENCE". The application for the privilege of invention deals with an electrical stimulator for the treatment of female urinary incontinence consisting of electronic circuits responsible for the generation of biphasic pulses of electric current applied to the pelvic musculature through a transvaginal stimulation probe (Figure 2), introduced into the patient's vagina. These pulses produce muscle contraction and train the muscles that can act to control involuntary urine loss. The stimulator equipment is fully programmable through the serial interface of personal and portable computers, and can be used by patients in their homes. The technique of transvaginal electrical stimulation is considered a conservative and effective alternative for the treatment of female urinary incontinence, according to several research studies, including at the Hospital de Clínicas of Porto Alegre, as well as without side effects.
