Abstract

"SISTEMAS E MéTODOS PARA FORNECER SERVIçOS DE VìDEO SOB DEMANDA PARA SISTEMAS DE TRANSMISSãO". A presente invenção apresenta métodos e sistemas (Fig. 8) para fornecer serviços totalmente digitais como transmissão VOD e digital, bem como um set-top-box (STB) (600) capaz de lidar com esses vários serviços digitais. Várias arquiteturas de hardware e métodos de transmissão de dados complementares que identificam serviços distintos por meio de um guia de programa eletrónico possibilitam essa transmissão. O STB (600) universal da presente invenção é capaz de distinguir os diferentes serviços com base nas informações recebidas no guia de programa eletrónico e foi projetado com arquitetura de hardware exclusiva que inclui um grande buffer. A presente invenção fornece ainda opções e exibição como recursos de transmissão múltipla e time-shifting VCR que incluem pausa, gravação e congelamento de quadro e uma transmissão sem sofrer a volatilidade e qualidade ruim de uma transmissão streaming pela Internet. Além disso, esses vários serviços digitais são fornecidos por meio de um link de comunicação unidirecional.
