A method and device for treating textile articles in a washing machine drum is provided, wherein the articles are loaded into the drum together with a dispensing device containing a liquid detergent. The device has at least one opening through which it can be filled and with at least one reversible opening means for dispensing liquid detergent in the pretreatment of textile articles. The opening means is actuated by deforming the base of the device, which is done by applying vertical or downward force to the device rather than compressing the sidewalls.
