A process for washing textile fabrics, comprising: (i) a washing step in which the fabrics are immersed in an aqueous washing liquor comprising a detergent surfactant, a detergency enhancer and, optionally, other detergent ingredients; (ii) a rinse step in which the fabrics are immersed for at least 30 seconds in an aqueous rinse liquor comprising (a) at least 0.02 g / l of a light colored crystalline clay mineral and, optionally, a non-surfactant water-soluble salt. An appropriate composition for use in this process comprises: (a) from 2 to 98%, by weight, of a light colored crystalline clay mineral; and (b) from 98 to 2%, by weight, of a non-surfactant water-soluble inorganic salt, the weight ratio of (a) :( b) being from 49: 1 to 1:49; and is substantially free of non-synthetic soap surfactant.
