A presente invenção refere-se a um método para o tratamento de uma emulsão compreendendo partículas (1) de água em um líquido orgânico (2), de forma a separar a água e o líquido orgânico, no qual a emulsão é submetida a radiação de microondas, onde a emulsão é submetida a radiação eletromagnética com uma freq³ência na faixa de 300 MHz a 100 GHz, as partículas de água são seletivamente aquecidas, e onde, dentro da faixa de freq³ência dada, a freq³ência é escolhida na região em que a água apresenta uma elevada tendência a transformar radiação eletromagnética em calor."METHOD TO SEPARATE AN EMULSION OF ORGANIC LIQUID AND WATER".
