Abstract

Patente de Invenção: "áCIDOS NUCLéICOS CODIFICANDO NOVAS PROTEìNAS DE CART TRUNCADAS, CORRESPONDENDO A POLI-PEPTìDEOS DE CART TRUNCADOS OU SEU USO PARA PROPóSITOS TERAPêUTICOS E DE DIAGNóSTICOS". Invention Patent: "NUCLEIC ACIDS CODING NEW TRUNCATED CART PROTEINS, CORRESPONDING TO TRUNCATED CART POLYPEPTIDES OR THEIR USE FOR THERAPEUTIC AND DIAGNOSTIC PURPOSES". The present invention is directed to nucleic acids encoding new truncated CART polypeptides, particularly CART proteins having 88 amino acids in length, as well as fragments of nucleic acid thereof. The invention also belongs to a family of recombinant vectors containing a nucleic acid such a truncated CART polypeptide and for cells of recombinant hosts such recombinant vectors. The invention also deals with a truncated CART protein, particularly a truncated CART protein having at least 88 amino acids in length as well as antibodies specially directed against this protein, these antibodies being useful as diagnostic reagents. The invention also relates to the use of CART protein particularly a truncated CART protein having 88 amino acids in length or fragments for the identification or characterization of ligands which agglutinate the CART protein or its receptor (s). The invention also relates to the use of nucleic acids encoding the truncated proteins of the invention or the CART proteins truncated by themselves for therapeutic purposes and particularly to decrease or prevent neuronal degeneration and to promote neuronal regeneration and function restoration, to treat addiction assisting release of the polypeptide or its truncated forms in vitro or in vivo and also in order to regulate food intake.
