Abstract
<B>"PROCESSO DE OBTENçãO DE FLOCULANTE VEGETAL"<D>. The present invention relates to an improvement developed in a process for the production of a flocculating agent for the treatment of drinking water and wastewater. The process of the invention comprises the following steps: i) mixing formaldehyde and ammonium chloride in a phase prior to the exothermic reaction, in the proportion of 3 moles of formaldehyde to 1 mole of ammonium chloride; ii) rest of the mixture; iii) start of the exothermic reaction by heating the mixture; iv) cooling the obtained electrophilic adduct, forming solution A; v) adduct rest; vi) adding 3 parts of solution A with one part of the aqueous tannin solution. Alternatively, the process comprises the addition of aluminum salts to the obtained flocculant. The addition of salts in the aqueous solution of the vegetable flocculant is done in a proportion not exceeding 10% by weight of the flocculant. The mixing of formaldehyde with ammonium chloride should preferably take place within 24 hours before the exothermic reaction begins. The vegetable tannin solution should preferably have a total solids content ranging from 38 to 58%. The exothermic reaction should be conducted, preferably, for a period of time of at least 2 hours, within a temperature range between 60 and 90 ° C, being monitored by the viscosity of the solution, which should be in the range of 35 to 45 cps . The adduct must rest for a period of at least 12 hours. The aqueous vegetable tannin solution must have a total solids content ranging between 38 and 58%. The mixture of solution A with the aqueous tannin solution should be conducted, preferably, for a period of time of at least 2 hours, within a temperature range between 60 and 90 ° C, being monitored by the viscosity of the solution, which must be in the range of 35 to 45 cps.
