Abstract

The device can be used in power supplies, more specifically in the failure sites control in cable and overhead power lines. It has an increased accuracy, by measuring the distance to the failure site in the air power lines. The accuracy is increased by comparing the reflected signals by a power line for high voltage of a phase with a failure point and a phase without a failure point under the influence of a high pulse voltage. Then the time of the appearance of the first reflected signal from the failure site is determined by comparing the difference of the reflectograms of a phase with and a phase without a failure point of two suitably selected levels over the noise level. In the device, an analyser of the failure type and phase is build in.
