Метод за спектрофотометрично определяне на глюкозното съдържание на неензимно глюкозирани протеини, характеризиращ се с това, че протеини, включени в клетки или неразтворими във вода, се разтварят с помощта на йонен или нейонен детергент, глюкозата се превръща в 5-хидроксиметилфурфурол чрез кисела хидролиза под свръхналягане, като се използва поне 1n киселина, реакционната смес се депротеинизира, 5-хидроксиметил-фурфуролът взаимодействува с органично съединение, което образува оцветено съединение с алдехида, и концетрацията на продукта се определя спектрофотометрично.
