Abstract

The reinforced packing gland comprises sealing rings of expanded graphite and is designed for sealing of mobile connections, such as shafts and rods or pumps and fittings, operating in high-pressure stability and temperature conditions. The sealing rings (5) are made of a flat strip (4) of expanded graphite, reinforced with high-strength fibres in the core of the strip (4). The number of fibres (3) in strip (4) and of the sealing rings (5) in the packing gland is arbitrary. 3 claims, 3 figures
