Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the reduction of theviscosity of polysaccharides, such as starch, by treatment withhydrogen peroxide in the presence of acylated polysaccharide asactivator. The acylated polysaccharide is used in quantities,equivalent to at least 1 acyl group of 100 monosaccharide units.Preferably the hydrogen peroxide should be from 2 to 20 wt.%towards the general quantity of polysaccharides and acylatedpolysaccharides.12 claims
