Abstract
The invention concerns a method of controlling the positionof a cutting tool (12) during cutting into individual mouldings(16) of a strip (14) transported on a train of die cavities (20).For such a process, it is proposed that: each die cavity (20) withthe overlying moulding (16) should be led past two sensors (42,44) to generate a first signal whose intensity fluctuatesaccording to the presence or absence of the die cavity (20) and asecond signal whose intensity fluctuates according to the presenceor absence of the moulding (16); the signals produced as the endof the die cavity (20) or moulding (16) passes should be evaluatedto determine whether it is the intensity of the first or secondsignal which alters first; and control signals should be generatedand used to adjust the position of the cutting tool (12) relativeto the feed direction of the strip (14) until the respectiveintensities of the two signals change simultaneously.8 claims, 1 figure
