Abstract

The invention relates to the utilization of a combinedfiltering material based on zeolite-montmorillonite modified in asuitable cationic form in its zeolite part. The filtering mateiralis a complex of natural or synthetic zeolite mineral and a naturalmontmorillonite having specific grain size distribution containingNa+ or H+, OH-, introduced anionic groups enabling the fixation ofK+, NH4+, Ca2+, ions of the heavy metals - Zn, Cu, Pb, and ions ofthe halogen elements - F, Cl. It has well developed surface andthe modification of the zeolite part does not deteriorate itssorption, ion-exchange and catalytic properties but leads to anextended interaction with other water pollutiong components. Thepassing of high mineralization water (3200 mg/l) across such typeof filtering material results in the occurrence of ion-exchangingreactions which reduce the content of the above-mentioned ions andtheir fixation on its grains and/or in them. The lowmineralization water produced is used repeatedly in differentmanufactures: in the chemical industry, metallurgy and other.3 claims
