Abstract

The rack follower is intended for use with self-propelled agricultural or horticultural equipment to steer this by following an earlier wheel track or furrow. It comprises a forwardly pointed guide blade (A) with trailing end portions parallel to the track direction and with a curved skid plate which prevents the blade from digging into the soil whilst it follows the track. - The blade and plate are arranged at the forward end of a rod (B) of which the rear end is coupled (C) with the mechanical or servo-operated steering system of the equipment such that this follows the track.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  Subject: invention patent: Agricultural and horticultural tracker Title of the invention Agricultural and horticultural tracker Description of the invention Normally it is the case that a person always has to control or adjust the agricultural or horticultural machine. The proposed invention allows the machine to automatically follow a wheel track that has already arisen, and thus for several types of work the grower can save a person (the machine operator), and that he himself can do the necessary work while the machine continues to drive autonomously. The agricultural tracker includes three main elements or parts; namely the tracker as such, the connecting rod to the agricultural or horticultural machine and the fastening system on the machine itself. The first element, the tracker in this way, consists of a point-shaped unit ending in a parallel guide (A in the drawings).

   This is supported by a slide plate.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

  The pointed whole ensures that the tracker remains accurately within the wheel track of an earlier passage of an agricultural or horticultural machine. The slide plate ensures that the tracker stays on top and does not get stuck in the ground. The second element, the connecting rod, serves to connect the tracker to the machine (B in the drawings).

  The third element, the fastening system, links the whole of the tracker and connecting rod to the steering gear of the agricultural or horticultural machine (C in the drawings). The track to be followed, always referred to above as wheel track, may in reality also be a partition between two ridges in the ridge cultivation, or a partition between two beds in the bed cultivation, or other tracks to be followed. The attached drawings only show the principle to be patented. The dimensions included in the drawings refer only to an example case where the track to be followed has a width of 28 cm. Depending on the case, i.e. the characteristics of the track to be followed or the machine to be controlled, the exact dimensions of the tracker, the connecting rod and the design of the mounting system (mechanical or servo control) must be adjusted.
