Abstract

New conjugated products of doxorubicin and its analogs with an anionic polymer. The anionic polymer used is a copolymer of pyran (cyclopolymer 1,2 regularly alternated with divinyl ether and maleic anhydride, also known under the name 'DVE-MA') in its polycarboxylate form. The binding of antitumor agents to the polymer is carried out by an ester bond obtained by nucleophilic substitution on their 14-bromo derivatives. Since they are released slowly 'in vivo', the new conjugate products considerably improve the pharmacokinetic behavior and the therapeutic efficacy of anti-tumor agents.
