Abstract

The charge control for an i.c. engine inlet has a grid formed of parallel vanes which are inclined at a large angle w.r.t. the flow axis. The grid occupies most of the width of the intake and can have a second grid downstream in which the vanes are inclined at a reverse angle. - The two grids can be connected by a single grill, with the vanes shaped to divert the charge at least twice. The deflectors can be mounted on a sleeve fitted between the intake manifold and carburettor.

Description

 <EMI ID=4.1>

gasoline and droplets, the largest of which do not have time to burn during 1 [deg.] explosion. This results in wasted fuel of up to 25%.

The devices used to avoid these losses: propellers, sieves, drilled cones, special nozzles, various heaters, have

warmed up.

This problem was solved by heating only the droplets and not the air containing them.

 <EMI ID = 4.1>

between the fixed shutters (5-8) of the shutters: The droplets (l-2), because of their mass, are little deviated and strike the hot shutters.

For more efficiency, there are at least two parallel louvers (Fig D), or in opposition (Fig A), more efficient.

In this case, it is possible to merge the flaps which have the vaguely shape of a turbine blade, the resemblance ending there. Given their speed, the captured droplets spread over the flaps which are very inclined for this purpose. The fuel therefore evaporates very quickly, its vapor being carried away progressively by the air, with which it mixes.

The device louver perpendicular to the air duct

has its very short flaps, which facilitates the passage of heat from the support flange (K) to the center (O) of the flaps. In addition, it opposes the rotation of the gas flow, contrary to most devices which do the opposite, and thus limits the pressure drops, while avoiding the centrifugation of the denser fuel towards the outside, source of heterogeneity-
