Abstract
The shell has a hollow rear part (1) into which is fitted the hollow front part (4), using a threaded joint (7) so as to form a hollow space for the explosive charge. The inner end of the front part carries external screw threads, so that the joint is towards the rear. An alternative design has the joint towards the front. In both designs, there is an annular space (6) between the inner and outer walls, containing rings of balls (5). This space is also located between the two alternative joint positions. - The diameter (D) of the joint is smaller than the inside diameter (D1) of the annular space. The balls are embedded in a resin material (8) and form prefabricated rings which can be inserted in at least two sections in the space on assembly. The resin can contain inflammable or self igniting material.
