<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=6.1>
<EMI ID=7.1>
<EMI ID=9.1>
<EMI ID=10.1>
autre technique souhaitable.

<EMI ID=12.1>

<EMI ID=14.1>

<EMI ID=16.1>
<EMI ID=17.1>

Disposable tampon
The present invention relates to an inexpensive, disposable tampon for applying a medicament to the skin.
<EMI ID = 1.1>
The dispenser carries the medication in a sterile, airtight manner, so that the user need only grip the tampon as described herein and open a frangible bag, thereby exposing the medication which is carried by a pad mounted on the pad.
In particular, it is obviously necessary to sterilize the skin before carrying out an intravenous injection or any other injection using a hypodermic needle. The tampon according to the invention, which is very low cost, can provide a predosed amount of sterilizing agent with which its pad is impregnated for the application of the sterilizing agent on the skin before proceeding with the intravenous injection. . The tampon according to the invention is very particularly convenient and advantageous in that the individual doses of antiseptic are ready for application, thus avoiding the need to wet a tampon or a sponge with the appropriate antiseptic.
In addition, the tampon according to the invention can be provided with a flat configuration so that it can advantageously be incorporated into prepackaged medical operating trays, into administration kits for intravenous solutions, packaging of blood bags and other devices, so that the user does not have to worry about the antiseptic, or prepare a conventional tampon, or
<EMI ID = 2.1>
drug (or cosmetic product, etc.) appropriately.
The disposable tampon according to the invention can be used for the application of any desired drug, such as cortisone ointment and the like. Likewise, the tampon according to the invention can be used for the application of ointments or ointments.
<EMI ID = 3.1>
capillaries or any other substance, as may be desirable, particularly when it is convenient to apply with a minimum of expense a single prepackaged dose of the material and for very great convenience in packaging and use. For example, you can use the pad to apply a touch-up dye to furniture or for similar uses. The tampon can also be used in dry form to remove material from another container for application to the skin or other surfaces.
Although other disposable pads have already been produced, for example, such as that described in the patent
<EMI ID = 4.1>
me to the invention has no equivalent due to its simplicity, low cost and economy, allowing its effective mass production and its widespread use.
Similarly, the United States patent
<EMI ID = 5.1>
container and applicator with a tampon which
<EMI ID = 6.1>
manufacturing much higher than that of the disposable tampon according to the invention.
A more particular subject of the invention is therefore a disposable tampon which is particularly suitable for applying a medicament and the like to the skin. The tampon is characterized by the fact that it comprises a flat strip, in the form of a sheet, stiff or rigid, as well as a pad fixed centrally to at least one side of the strip.
A first internal pair of fold lines is located transversely in the strip, each fold line of the internal pair of fold lines being provided on opposite sides of and in the vicinity of a
<EMI ID = 7.1>
slightly equal. The effect of this embodiment is to allow the opposite end portions of the
<EMI ID = 8.1> bearing.
A second external pair of fold lines can optionally be located transversely in the strip, each fold line of the external pair of fold lines being located in the vicinity of opposite ends of the strip, these fold lines being spaced apart by distances. generally equal, so
allowing the end portions of the folded end portions toward the rear of the strip to be pinched together by the fingers so as to touch flat.
Consequently, the folded strip forms a structure which is of triangular cross section as a whole, the base of the triangular cross section carrying the pad.
Preferably, the pad which can advantageously be made of a spongy absorbent material of
<EMI ID = 9.1>
preferably in its spongy interstices, so that it can be expressed on the skin or any other surface when using the tampon.
Separate pads can be worn on opposite sides of the strip. In use, the strip is first folded backwards with respect to a pad in order to use it and is then folded backwards with respect to the opposite pad in order to use the latter.
It is also preferable that each pad is enclosed in a tangible bag, the edges of which are hermetically secured to the strip. The sheet-like, flat strip. - can. as a whole, be made of rigid cardboard, typically associated with an aluminum foil on one side, that is to say a product available commercially. The bag can also be made of a conventional aluminum sheet with a thin thermoplastic layer laminated to this aluminum sheet, so that the frangible sheet bag can be heat sealed by its edges to the side of the cardboard strip. carrying the aluminum foil, so as to enclose the pad. Likewise, the generally rigid strip can be made of a flexible plastic material, such as polyethylene, polypropylene and the like.
In this case, the fold lines may be of a hinged construction.
The pad can be made of a similar conventional sponge polyester material if desired and can be attached to the strip preferably of cardboard or plastic. On the side carrying the aluminum foil, using a classic adhesive,
<EMI ID = 10.1>
another desirable technique.
The medication carried by the pad may specifically be soap, an antiseptic, such as the well-known PVP iodine, which is a commercially available antiseptic, or any other desired antiseptic, or any other drug, cosmetic or other material . It is particularly advantageous to use an antiseptic which does not require sterilization of the pad.
As mentioned above, the tampon can advantageously be stored and packaged in its flat configuration. Then, when it is to be used, the fold lines of the internal pair of fold lines are folded to tilt the end portions of the strip backwards, while the
<EMI ID = 11.1>
folding so that the end portions of the rear folded end portions can be pinched together by the fingers so as to touch flat. The frangible bag can then be removed from around the pad, the pad then being suitable for use.
<EMI ID = 12.1>
end together, so that the tampon occupies the triangular configuration during its conservation, if this proves desirable.
The invention will now be described using the

- Figure 2 shows an elevational view of the tampon shown in Figure 1, - Figure 3 shows an elevational view of the tampon as shown in Figure 1, in the inverted position and folded into its working position,
- Figure 4 shows a view in elevation similar to that of Figure 3, but turned 90 [deg.], showing the removal of the frangible bag for the use of the tampon,

of the stamp shown in Figure 5 and
FIG. 7 represents an elevation view of another embodiment of the tampon according to the invention, similar in appearance, seen in plan, to the tampon shown in FIG. 5.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, it can be seen that the disposable tampon 10 according to the invention consists of a flat strip, ana-
<EMI ID = 14.1>
cardboard strip, laminated on the side carrying the pad 15 to an aluminum foil, as previously described. The pad 14 may be made of a spongy polyester material or any other absorbent pad-like material, as
may wish for its use, fixed by an adhesive or by heat sealing to the aluminum sheet
16 of the flat sheet-like strip 12. The pad 14 can be impregnated with a medicament and the like.
The strip 12 can be mechanically notched in a conventional manner, in order to delimit internal and external pairs of fold lines. The fold lines 18 of the inner pair of fold lines are located on opposite sides of the pad 14 and located in the vicinity of the opposite ends of the pad 14 at generally equal distances, as is the representation
<EMI ID = 15.1>
opposite terminals 20 of the strip 12 to be folded backwards relative to the pad 14, as shown in Figures 3 and 4.
The fold lines 22 of the outer pair of fold lines are provided in the vicinity of and are located opposite the opposite ends of the strip 12
at generally equal distances. The fold lines 22 delimit end parts 24 of end parts 20 which can be pinched together by the fingers, so as to touch flat, as FIGS. 3 and 4 represent, in order to serve as a part to be gripped. with the fingers, in order to maintain
<EMI ID = 16.1>
As can be seen, the strip 12 can be folded into a structure which is of triangular cross section as a whole, the base panel 26 of the triangular cross section carrying the pad 14. The internal parts 28 of the terminal parts 20 delimit a pair of triangular panels which can be folded together around fold lines 18 to define a vertex 30 or the outer fold lines 22 are located.
<EMI ID = 17.1>
32 which can be made of aluminum foil laminated to a layer of thin plastic material of polyethylene and the like and which is then preferably heat sealed using said material
plastic by its edges 33 to the strip 12, of
so as to completely enclose the pad 14. A conventional tear-off tab 34 can be provided in order to facilitate removal by manual tearing of the frangible bag 32 in order to expose the pad 14.
Then, we can use the buffer 10, so as to transfer the drug stored in the pad 14
on the skin. We can then throw away the tampon.
The tampon according to the invention is an article
extremely low cost which has the additional advantage that it can be kept flat until
that we want to use it. It is easily
folded together for use and opened and
has few problems getting rid of it.
Likewise, pads 10 can be mass produced
in the form of a strip of pads 12, as shown in FIG. 1, united to each other by their side by lines of weakness 38 making it possible to tear off individual pads for their use. Therefore, the tampons according to the invention can be sold in the form of a tampon roll? rolled up, for example, in a dispenser box, so as to allow their easy storage. Similarly, the buffer strips can be manufactured from rolls of raw material by automatic manufacturing equipment.

Fold lines 54 forming part of a pair
internal fold lines can be formed by printing a groove as shown in Figure 6
in the plastic strip 42. Therefore, when the fold lines 54 are folded
i the manner according to the invention so as to expose one or the other of the pads 44,46, they can form a sharp articulation in the manner well known in the field of thermoplastics, such as
<EMI ID = 26.1>
foldable, so that the proposed end parts
55 of the strip 42 can be folded backwards with respect to one or the other of the pads 44, 46, in a triangular configuration similar to that of the embodiment described above.
In addition, the external fold lines 56 of a model similar to the lines 54 can be provided in order to fulfill a function analogous to that of the external fold lines 22 of the previously described embodiment force, so as to allow the parties to end 58 of serving as a handle in a manner similar to the embodiment previously described. Since the strip 42 is made of plastic, ribs or serrations 60 can be molded or pressed into the strip of planar material.

and thus prevent the tampon from slipping between the fingers when it is used.
Consequently, according to one of the specific embodiments of use, as FIGS. 5 and 6 show, the pad 44 can be impregnated with a surgical soap, while the pad 46 can be impregnated with a antiseptic, such as PVP iodine. This structure can be introduced in a kit
and perform the function of 2 buffers instead of 1.
First, the frangible bag 48 can be removed by folding the parts 54 backwards around fold lines 54, relative to the pad 44,

which tends to expose the leg portion 53 of the bag

Consequently, an extremely inexpensive tampon or applicator is thus obtained in which, if desired, two different pads carrying two different materials to be applied are provided in the same device, which materials can be applied one after the other with great convenience and at very little cost.
As mentioned above, there is no particular limitation on the type of materials that can be applied using the pad according to the invention,
