<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>

"Support and / or wedging device for the foot of a
person operating a pedal device in relation to
the pedal of said machine "The present invention essentially relates to a support device at / or wedging the foot of a person actuating a pedal machine relative to the pedal of said machine.
<EMI ID = 1.1>
of the foot of a cyclist relative to the pedal of the bicycle comprises a system of toe clips fixed on the cage of the pedal as well as a timing strap arranged transversely with respect to the foot of the cyclist so as to prevent any movement towards the front and side
<EMI ID = 2.1>
backward movement of the foot, it is also known to have a wedge on the sole of the shoe comprising a notch coming to be inserted on the upper rear edge of the pedal cage.
We understand that this system is complicated and that it does not instantly release or re-engage the foot relative to the pedal. This can give rise to various accidents since the cyclist may not have time to loosen the strap of the toe clip.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks by providing a solution which allows
to simplify the support and / or wedging device for the foot of a person actuating a pedal device while
by allowing instant release and re-engagement of the foot relative to the pedal.
This solution consists according to the present invention
in a device for supporting and / or wedging the foot of a person actuating a pedal device relative to the pedal of said device, characterized in that it comprises means for wedging the foot relative to the pedal secured thereto and shaped so as to cooperate with anchoring members integral with the shoe of the foot so as to prevent any forward and backward movement of the foot while allowing lateral movement.
According to a particular embodiment, the means
wedging comprise two wedging tabs integral with the pedal projecting externally relative to the general profile of the pedal and advantageously arranged substantially in the plane of one of the faces of the pedal.
Preferably, the anchoring members in this case comprise two elements spaced in the longitudinal direction on the sole of the shoe and arranged opposite to
<EMI ID = 3.1>
and a lateral re-engagement of the instant foot. These elements advantageously have a curved part giving them a general L-shaped profile allowing easy sliding of the foot relative to the pedal. It should be noted that the spacing between said elements
<EMI ID = 4.1>
sufficient to achieve the aforementioned instantaneous release and re-engagement of the shoe on the clamping tabs of the pedal. However, this play is sufficiently small to avoid an inadvertent lateral sliding of the foot relative to the pedal.
According to another embodiment, the means of
wedging consist of a rod forming a pedal axis; attached to the end of the crank and presents
both a given taper, the free end of the rod
being that of smaller dimension. Advantageously in
in this case, the abovementioned anchoring members consist of wedging rings fixed to the sole of the shoe while being spaced laterally on said sole so
to allow easy insertion of the aforementioned conical rod inside said two rings.
According to yet another alternative embodiment,
this allows lateral wedging of the foot, the arrangement
tif according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises
a footrest stirrup comprising two laterally spaced arches between which the foot passes, said stirrup being
pivotally mounted on the pedal axle substantially level
from the top of said arches, thereby making it possible to
an increase in the pedal axis allowing pedaling
more powerful in particular. Of course, this stirrup can
be removably mounted relative to the axis of
the pedal.
Others stumbled. characteristics and advantage of the present invention will appear in the light of the explanatory description which will = drunk made with reference to the embodiments represented in the drawings, currently preferred and which have been given only by way of illustration of the present invention.
