<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>

<EMI ID=14.1>
<EMI ID=15.1>

"New magnet for electric energy meter" <EMI ID = 1.1>
The invention relates to an improvement made to an electrical energy totalizing meter and applicable
to all types of single-phase and three-phase meters, totaling the electrical energy consumed, both active and reactive. The invention applies more particularly to the magnetic braking systems of a rotating disc of the counter, the axis of which drives a timer or clock.
with rollers bearing digital indications representative of the electrical energy consumed.
It is in fact known that most of the electric energy meters which are installed in homes; ? subscribers, operate on the principle of a rotating disc driven in
rotation by a motor torque proportional to the electric power supplied to the user circuit to be controlled. This is generally achieved by creating two magnetic fields acting on the non-magnetic metal disc and generating
inside this disc induced currents causing
the engine torque. We usually get one of the two
<EMI ID = 2.1>
inductance traversed by the current of the circuit of use and the other field, by a very resistant winding and of great inductance inside which the current is proportional to the voltage of use and phase shifted by approximately
90 [deg.] Compared to this one. However, the torque thus created is proportional to the active power or to the reactive power (depending on the way in which the windings are connected with respect to the network) and it is shown that to have
an angle of rotation of the disc proportional to the electrical energy consumed, it is also necessary to apply to the disc a cuuple of moment braking proportional to the speed of rotation of the disc. In virtually all types
counters, this braking torque is obtained by means of an induction system with permanent magnets acting on the disc.
Until now, such an induction system was difficult to implement and delicate to adjust. Most
<EMI ID = 3.1>
so that the polar faces, coplanar, could be arranged opposite the surface of the disc, generating braking currents in the latter. Often used two magnets of this type arranged respectively on either side of the disc, and the adjustment or calibration of the braking system was carried out by means of a steel screw causing a partial magnetic short circuit at the level of the discs. magnets.
The invention aims to obtain a structure of the braking system that is both simpler (and therefore less expensive)
<EMI ID = 4.1>
better performance) and easier to adjust. The performance of the braking system is understood to mean a better ratio between
the braking torque obtained on the disc and the volume
(thus the price) of the magnets used for this.
In this spirit, the invention relates to an electric energy meter, of the type comprising at least one disc
made of non-magnetic metal, mounted rotating around the axis passing through its center and perpendicular to its surface,
subjected on the one hand to a motor torque proportional to the electric power supplied to the operating circuit
to control and on the other hand to a braking torque proportional to its own speed of rotation; said couple of
braking being generated by a permanent magnet induction system, acting on said disc, characterized in that
that said induction system consists of a metal cage, with a profile substantially U-shaped, carrying at least one group of two rod-shaped permanent magnets with parallel pole faces, arranged in axial alignment with the same magnetic orientation and fixed respectively on two parallel internal faces of said cage ^ so that two opposite pole faces define between them a braking flow space through which said disc passes.
In addition to the aforementioned advantages arising from the structures of the induction system which has just been described,
it should be noted that the latter also lends itself particularly well to the addition of a new type of
brake efficiency adjustment. This new adjustment means makes it possible to vary the ratio between the useful flux (fu) flowing between the two opposite pole faces and perpendicular to them and the leakage flux (ff) dispersing all around each group d 'permanent magnets outside the flux space
brake defined previously.
For this, the invention also provides that a counter of the type defined above is characterized in that one
at least one of the magnets carries a metal ring with adjustable positioning along the longitudinal axis of said magnet.
With such an adjustment member, which is particularly simple, the leakage flow (ff) can be varied in fairly large proportions, which causes a variation in the opposite direction of the useful flow (fu) and therefore of the braking intensity. .
The invention will be better understood and other aims, details and advantages thereof will appear better in the light of the explanatory description which follows of a currently preferred embodiment of an apparatus in accordance with the principle of the invention. , given only by way of example and made with reference to the appended non-limiting drawings in which:
- Figure 1 is a perspective view, schematic, of part of an electric energy meter provided with the improvement according to the invention; and
- Figure 2 is an elevational view along <EMI ID = 5.1>
In the drawing, there is shown the disc 11 of an electrical energy meter and an induction system 12 with permanent magnets, according to the invention, for braking the disc 11. It is of course understood that the latter is also rotated by any suitable means
(not shown) capable of applying to it a motor torque proportional to the electric power (active or reactive, single-phase or three-phase, depending on the types of meters) supplied to the use circuit. This motor torque therefore causes the disk '11 to rotate around its axis 13, which drives a well-known roller clock (not shown), or any other similar system.
The induction system 12 consists of a cage

permanent 17. One of these magnets (17a) carries a metal ring 18, the role of which will be explained below. The

and fixed respectively on the two internal faces 15 and 16 by one of their pole faces. We can define for

formed by the union of the longitudinal axes of the magnets of the same group; the pole faces of these magnets being perpendicular to these respective longitudinal axes
<EMI ID = 9.1>
closest poles a braking flow space
20 in which the disc 11 passes. On the other hand, as can be seen in FIG. 1, the magnetic orientation of a magnet 17 belonging to one of the groups defined above is reversed with respect to the magnetic orientation of the magnet of the other group mounted on the same internal face (15 or 16) of the cage 14. The latter is preferably tinned, which protects it against corrosion
and what can facilitate the welding of the magnets 17, since

the cage. It should be noted, however, that these same magnets can just as easily be crimped in appropriate housings provided on the internal faces 15 and 16 of the
cage 14. In all cases, it is advantageous that these internal faces are provided with cells 21 or similar hollows, 5? for correct and precise positioning of the permanent magnets% inside the cage 14. These circular cells

and in particular by stamping.
Note, at this stage of the description, the great simplicity of structure of the induction system 12, which
greatly lowers the manufacturing cost, compared
to that of previously known systems. The currents
induced in the disc by the flux of a pair of magnets closed
<EMI ID = 12.1>
braking obtained was much better than that of the more complex systems used previously. In particular, a much better magnetic efficiency is obtained or in other words, a higher braking efficiency for a significantly reduced volume of the magnets.
According to an important feature of the invention, at least one (17a) of the magnets is provided with a metal ring with adjustable positioning along the longitudinal axis (X2) of the corresponding group. The positioning of the crown 18 is made adjustable by the fact that
<EMI ID = 13.1>
itself a thread 26 on its outer lateral surface. For example, the magnet 17a can be surrounded laterally by a threaded sleeve 27 provided with the thread 26 and carrying the crown
18. The latter further comprises a notched or padded part 28 on its outer edge. This toothed part may preferably constitute kinds of gear teeth engaged with a pinion 29 mounted on the cage 12, with its axis
<EMI ID = 14.1>
pinion 29 has a toothed portion of axial length at least equal to the length of the zone of axial movement of the ring 18 (along the magnet 17a) and this toothed portion is positioned opposite this zone. Of course, to allow the positioning of the ring 18 via the pinion 29, the latter is provided with a screw head
30, at one of its ends, accessible. It goes without saying that the rotation of the pinion 29 will cause an axial displacement of the ring gear 18, The role of the latter will now be

In Figure 2 we have. effect represented lines
useful flux (fu) which effectively have an action on the braking of the disc and the leakage flux lines (ff) which do not participate in braking. The presence of the crown 18 considerably increases the leakage flows (ff) which
decreases the intensity of the useful flow and consequently the braking efficiency. The device can thus be calibrated. It should be noted that the braking is maximum when the ring 18 disturbs the lines of flux as little as possible.
