Description

Device for routing according to the so-called "shaft" technique.
The present invention relates to the field of woodworking machines working by removal using a rotary tool mounted on a shaft, and more particularly of molding machines.
By molding is meant the relief given to the edge of a piece of wood. When the edge of a flat piece of wood has a curved outline, the piece is said to be scalloped; the molding of a scalloped part can be carried out using a machine commonly known as a "top", and in the case of a flat part, the molding technique is called "shaft". Indeed, according to this technique, a cutting tool is arranged along a generatrix of the shaft, and in such a way that it does not attack the entire thickness of the part, but leaves an uncut part called a "heel" and so that the heel can take a sliding support on the shaft itself; the tree technique then consists in moving the part in a plane (a fairly large apron of the spindle moulder allows this movement) while keeping the edge to be molded manually pressed against the tree.
It is on the one hand the concern to facilitate the implementation of this technique and to put the tops within the reach of less experienced users than the current specialists in these techniques, and on the other hand, and above all, by the concern to make them less dangerous for users, even ex-

ventive which resulted in the present invention. Another concern of the applicant in his research was that of implementing means competing advantageously by its speed with the manual presentation of the parts to the tool as described above.
The inventive approach of the applicant resulted in a simple and convenient device for transferring a piece of wood as described above and bringing it closer to the tool
molding, and to a particular assembly of the tool allowing advantageous use of the transfer device of the invention.
According to the present invention, a device for transferring a piece of wood to bring it closer to a molding tool, incorporates means for gripping said piece and translation means for moving said means.
<EMI ID = 2.1>
rator not exerting direct manual action on the part but only on said translation means.
In a first particular embodiment of a transfer device according to the invention, said
<EMI ID = 3.1>
mier carriage able to move in a first rectilinear path and of a second carriage able to move in a second rectilinear path, this second path being supported by the first carriage, said paths forming directions orthogonal to each other; preferably, said paths are raceways, rather than sliding, and said carriages are ball bearings.
According to the first embodiment described above, the gripping means mainly consist of support means such as fingers and pressing means such as pressers. Cr, during tests on an experimental prototype, the applicant observed that the support fingers could be dispensed with without inconvenience in most cases of parts to be molded.
A second variant of application of the invention
<EMI ID = 4.1> approach the molding tool by pressing it using at least one presser supported by the translation means, against the table or the plate and the spindle which then constitutes a sliding support for the room; such a way of operating, in addition to the simplicity of implementation that it provides, allows, insofar as said presser at least is supported by means, such as a bracket, designed in a manner
not to encounter during their translation the molding tool or the tool holder, to grasp the piece of wood on the side of the tool opposite to the translation means, which ultimately makes it possible to mold large parts,
A third particularly simple and effective application variant of the invention comprises a first translation path on which at least one carriage can move in translation and in rotation, said carriage being associated with a second carriage in which can move in translation, but not in rotation, the second translation path at one end of which the gripping means are supported; preferably such a device comprises two pairs
associated cart.
The invention as a whole will be better understood, and details also relating to the invention will become apparent, during the description which will be given of particular embodiments, in relation to the figures of the accompanying plates in which:
