<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>

<EMI ID=7.1>
plaque.
<EMI ID=8.1>
<EMI ID=9.1>
Footwear and Process for Their Manufacture,
The present invention relates to shoes such as shoes, boots, etc., comprising soles made up of an elastomeric material formed directly by molding on the bottom of the upper, which generally consists of a material such as leather. The invention also relates to the method of manufacturing such shoes.
The direct molding of the elastomeric material forming the sole is carried out in molding devices comprising a molding form or shoe tree and a mold or
Sole mold cavity consisting of a generally divided side frame and a piston-shaped portion for the tread layer surface. It is known to fix the upper on the molding form using a string assembly in the absence of a structural insole when the outsole is strong enough to hold the rod assembly selvedge in position. which is fixed to the outsole by the elastomer.
Often, a welt attached to the vamp at the seam level (ie at the sole of the sole) is also attached to the outsole.
The present invention proposes to make improvements to such shoes and to their manufacturing processes. The invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 shows a schematic cross section of the sole edge of an upper relative to a portion of a sole molding device before juxtaposition with the mold. Figure 2 shows a schematic cross section of the same sole ridge at the end of the molding of the sole, Figure 3 shows an embodiment of the invention in a side view of a complete shoe and Figures 4 to 7 represent variant embodiments of the sole ridges in a straight section.
According to the invention, the sole 4 of elastomeric material extends upwards over part of its periphery, as indicated at 5 in FIG. 3 so that the apparent height 8 of the sole is a multiple of the actual thickness. 7 of the sole below the level of the first sole 3
The apparent height of the sole may vary, that is to say that it may be greater at the point or at the buttress and less at the arch 6. As a result, part
<EMI ID = 1.1>
At the edge 2 of the extension 5 of the sole, a sealing strip, arranged at a corresponding spacing of the level 3 of the first sole, is fixed to the material constituting the upper 1, which is generally leather. The band has an outer extension 15 and a part 14 extending along the upper 1. The material constituting the band is preferably an elastomeric material compatible with the elastomer constituting the outer sole 4. Part 14 is attached to the rod
by stitching 13 or by other means such as by welding
hot etc ...
During the manufacture of the shoe, the upper with the strip spaced from the mounting selvedge 10 is mounted on the molding form 9 of a molding device which comprises a mold 25. In a loading position of this device, the rod is shaped by a string 11 fixed to the edge
of the mounting strip 10 or by fixing the mounting strip
mounting 10 after having attached it to a sole 19
(figure 5) or by any of the different methods
assembly. As shown in figure 1, the twine
11 is preferably disposed on the side of the molding form between the bevel and the widest part of the form.
This results in a gain and reduction in bubbling
of the mounting strip.
Figure 1 shows an embodiment in which the rod material disposed between the strip 15 and the mounting selvedge 10 is replaced by the material 24 fixed by a stitch 20
to the lower or inner part 14 of the strip 15.
Different materials, especially cheaper
that the visible material of the rod 1 can be used
for this strip of material 24.
As shown in figure 4, part 14 of the strip
can extend downward to form a mounting selvedge 10 and to carry the string 11 (Figure 4).
Sometimes the rod previously provided with the band can
be held on form 9 by a plate 16 as shown in figure 6. When more complete shaping is required, the strip can be extended
as shown at 28 in Figure 7, to include
<EMI ID = 2.1>
<EMI ID = 3.1> resistance to the upper when made integral even to very light leather of reduced thickness.
After mounting and shaping on the molding form 9 of the rod 1 provided with the strip, it is provided according to
<EMI ID = 4.1>
bringing the strip 15 extending outward from the position shown in Figure 1 to the position of Figure 2.
<EMI ID = 5.1>
is carried by supports 30 with a predetermined spacing relative to the form 9, so that the correct position of the web 15 can be easily verified by the operator in the loading position. The absence of a side frame of the mold and / or of a mold base easily allows the strip to be flattened and facilitates inspection. Then, the forming unit with the rod, with the lip plate and the positioning and locking supports 30 is moved so as to realize a juxtaposition with respect to the mold 25.
By closing the mold, the edge of part 15 of the strip is clamped between the lip plate 16 and the edge 32 of the mold,
so that there is no direct contact between the metal of the mold and the material of the rod. Often the parts of the mold are heated while the lip plate 16, spaced from the heated parts of the outer edge of the strip, remains cool. The plate, due to the insulating effect of the edge of the strip, remains cool to the touch, even if the bottom of the mold
<EMI ID = 6.1>
the assembly operation, which allows it to increase its efficiency. This feature also allows the use of a
<EMI ID = 7.1>
plate. The tightening of the outer edge of the strip not only ensures the specified spacing but also a suitable sealing of the mold even if use is made of fluid elastomers such as blown polyurethanes. The plaque
16 is also used to force the material of the rod 1 around the deformation 21 of the form 9, as shown in figure 1 or a groove as shown in figure 6. In each case, the deformation rod material on the ridge provides a satisfactory seal of the rod from the shape to prevent overflow of the elastomeric material upward beyond the seal deformation.
After molding of the outsole 4, either by casting, injection or some other process, the shoemaking article is removed from the device for manufacturing the sole and the previously clamped edges of the strip 15 are cut in correspondence with the circumference of the outsole. This operation after demoulding can be carried out at a very short distance from the rod, in order to obtain an appearance practically identical to that resulting from the absence of a strip, without running the risk of the elastomer sinking. 'flows outside the band.
According to another embodiment of the invention, the mounting selvedge, which may constitute part of the material of the rod or another material attached to the latter or to the strip,
is attached to a midsole without center, that is to say a midsole which extends towards the bevel but which is open in its center to allow the inward movement of the edge of assembly even that it has been attached to the sole first. Such a centerless first sole 29, as
<EMI ID = 8.1>
<EMI ID = 9.1>
The absence of the center in such raw soles allows
to stitch the mounting strip, inside or outside of this sole. In each case, by including the inner edge of this sole, the attachment of the outer sole to the upper is improved.
