<EMI ID=1.1>

<EMI ID=4.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=6.1>
<EMI ID=7.1>
particulier, peut être arrangé alors entrera tête du boulon; ;

Guide for moving machine parts
one with respect to the other The invention relates to. a guide for machine parts movable with respect to one another, in particular for a carriage, a table and a support of a machine-tool or of a measuring device movable on a bed, a frame, column or the like, where one or more pairs of guide surfaces for receiving the movable machine part are formed as aerostatic guidance, and where such a pair of sur-
<EMI ID = 1.1>
parallel to the previous one, by means of which one can apply a preliminary tension force loading the guide.
In aerostatic guidance, the movable machine part to be guided is carried by a layer of air, and then, between the two surfaces associated with one another with a
pair of guide surfaces, there is a gap to which compressed air is continuously supplied. This is done by means of introduction openings shaped as constrictions, nozzles, etc., which are arranged at a distance from each other in the guide surface, made for example of plastic material, of a machine part, in particular of the mobile machine part. The corresponding guide surface on the other machine part is mostly a guide track of steel or other ferrous material.
In principle, remarkable advantages must be expected from aerostatic guidance, for example, among other things, in particular, a total absence of friction, which leads to an absence of wear and which requires only little power to create the translational movement of the guided machine part. On the other hand, in the practical realization of aerostatic guidance, there are significant problems and difficulties, especially when it comes to heavy parts as elements to be guided and / or when they are is to meet precision requirements, possibly also in the case of varying loads.
This also applies to machine tools. Here, the difficulties appear to be so great that it has hitherto been asked whether it was possible to obtain satisfactory solutions which can be used in practice, for example in the case of large machines generating chips.
Counter-guidance is also aerostatic guidance in known slide guides, just like the
<EMI ID = 2.1>
this. Efforts to achieve practical results from
<EMI ID = 3.1>
expected success. This has also not been achieved by the introduction of control systems quite apart from the fact that such systems involve considerable expense.
The object of the invention is to provide aerostatic guidance of the aforementioned type, which can meet high requirements in terms of behavior in speed and precision and which is also suitable for heavy moving parts, and among others, particularly, for machine tools producing chips, in particular digitally controlled machines, such as for example horizontal milling and drilling machines, grinding machines, etc .; This goal must be achieved in the simplest way:
possible and with uncomplicated means. The invention strives in all cases to produce an advantageous conformation and suitable for the requirements of practice, the various elements belonging to the guide.
the invention provides that the counter-guide has a track associated with one of the machine parts, on which track rollers suitable for the other machine part roll, these rollers being under the action of a elastic force which presses them against the track.
It has turned out that guidance conformed in this way, which is constructed in an extraordinarily simple way, brings remarkable results. Due to the elastically supported rollers, for which it is possible to use spring packs with a relatively large elastic path, a constant preliminary load can be obtained which leads to favorable conditions. In the aerostatic part of the guide having an air gap between guide surfaces that enclose it. This is a surprising result which did not necessarily follow from aerostatic guides of known construction.
The guide according to the invention is already clamped in the unsolicited state, that is to say when the air supply is cut off so that the guide surfaces of the pair of aerostatic guide surfaces, to the rest state, are applied against each other (which moreover ensures a certain position of the movable machine part in the corresponding position). The interval between surfaces
<EMI ID = 4.1>
<EMI ID = 5.1>
tick, then appearing, spring elements appearing
<EMI ID = 6.1>
holding on to the counter-guidance. By means of a guide designed in this way, a small air gap and a very large stiffness can be achieved. As has been found, in
the guidance according to the invention, the guided machine part, for example a carriage, exactly follows the macrogeometric shape of the stationary guide part, so that unevenness of the guide track is completely compensated, without this resulting in disadvantageous changes
the air gap between the two guide surfaces of the pair of aerostatic guide surfaces.
An advantageous embodiment of the guidance is characterized by the fact that each time the rollers which have a deviation in the direction of travel, with respect to each other, are mounted in a block which at a first point, laterally with respect to the rollers, on the mobile machine part, there is a rigid support which, at a second point, laterally with respect to the rollers, bears by means of a compression spring on a linked stop
to the machine part, the rigid support or the stop being adjustable relative to the machine part, that is to say
<EMI ID = 7.1>
rollers. This represents a very clear realization, easy to realize and to assemble, which makes it possible to adjust in a precise and fast way the preliminary tension to the desired level, each time. It is advantageous that each block has two rollers, so that in = combination with the rigid support, the principle of a support on three points is satisfied.
According to another configuration, the invention provides for the stopper to be formed by the head of a bolt screwed into one of the machine parts. The compression spring, in
particular, can be arranged then will enter bolt head; ;
and the block. Advantageously, a package of disc springs is used as a compression spring. This can be housed, so as to save space and ensure its protection, in a recess of the block.
In principle, the shape of the guide is advantageously such that several individual blocks with rollers mounted therein are distributed over the length of the moving machine part. Depending on the size and weight of the machine part to be guided, _ one can choose in each case, without difficulty, the number of blocks which belong to a counter-guide, so that the best possible result is obtained.
In a guide with two pairs of surfaces
guide formed as an aerostatic mount, as the main guide for a movable machine part, the invention provides that on the two longitudinal sides, extending parallel to the guides, of the movable machine part, there is at least each time two individual blocks in which rollers are mounted.
In such guides, or in guides produced in a similar manner, the advantage is that for each block, the pre-tightening adjustment can be established independently of that of the other blocks. It is thus made possible to compensate for the non-symmetrical loads, as it can
This is for example due to the shape of the part of the machine to be guided, and, by a differential adjustment of the prior clamping of individual blocks, to place the effective point of application of the resulting load force in the same way more favorable to movement; that is, in the middle of the arrangement of the whole.
In many cases, particularly in the case of large or heavy machine parts, it can be a source of difficulty or of great undesirable expense, in making the air ducts intended for the compressed air supply to the outlet ports. air, through bores in
the corresponding machine part.
For the solution of this problem, the invention provides for the air duct to be a pipe provided with connections.
for the air outlet ports, which is placed in a groove of the corresponding machine part.
This constitutes an advantageous realization which has
an importance in itself, independently of the particularities mentioned above, and which can be applied in general to aerostatic guidance. The groove which is intended to receive the pipe can be made without great difficulty even in heavy parts, most of the time even as part of the necessary machining, anyway. The branches

the carriage 1 is carried by pairs of guide surfaces 4a, 4b and 5a, 5b each time shaped as aerostatic guides 4 and 5. The guide surfaces 4b, 5b which are on the bed 2 are of the same material as the bed , that is to say therefore of cast iron or steel depending on whether the bed
is a cast construction or a welded construction. The planar shape of these guide surfaces 4b, 5b is produced
for example by grinding or, as now also allows the guidance according to the invention, by precision milling. Hardening of the guide surfaces is not necessary.

Compressed air from an air source is supplied to these air outlet openings 7 while the machine is running, through the bores or channels 8 provided in the carriage 1 (figure 1). tablet not specially shown, for example from a rotary compressor, through a flexible duct
9. The latter is connected to a connector 10 provided on the carriage 1 and can follow the carriage in all its movements without being prevented.
Each pair of aerostatic guide surfaces
4,5 is associated with a counter-guidance 11,12. This has each time a path 11a, 12a directed parallel to the guide surface 4b, 5b located on the bed 2, these paths being formed by the underside of an extension 14 or
15 of bed 2, in the shape of a rod and on which rollers 13.
Chazue roller 13 is mounted on a pin 17 carried by a block 16. The block has at a first point, laterally with respect to the rollers 13, a firm support 18, on a part directed towards the bottom of the carriage 1, and is supported in a second point also laterally with respect to the rollers 13, by a spring 17, on the head of a bolt 20 screwed into the carriage 1. The roller 13 is thus pressed with a predetermined force against the track 11a or 12a and thus performs a prior tightening of the aerostatic guidance 4 or 5. This pre-tightening can be increased or decreased by turning the bolt 20 in one direction or the other. It can thus be adjusted according to the needs of each case.
In addition, a mounted spring can be replaced quickly and without great expense by a spring of other stiffness in case this is necessary, for example in a conversion of the machine. In Figure 1, the guide is shown in working state, where we have represented excessively large, for clarity, the air gap L.
As shown in part diagrammatically in FIG. 2, several preliminary tightening rollers 13 belonging to the counter-guides 11, 12 have been arranged on each longitudinal side la, lb of the carriage 1, distributed over its length. The pre-tightening can then also be adjusted in a different way for the various rollers, for example to compensate for an asymmetrical load of the carriage 1, as it could be caused for example by an eccentric arrangement of the support 3 (figure .1) on the carriage 1. or by another suitable machine part on one side of the support.
In Figures 3 and 4, there is shown in particular a particularly advantageous configuration of a guide where
it may for example be a cart guide de_table of the kind shown in Figures 1 and 2, but also a guide suitable for another case of application.
The aerostatic part 24 of the guide has here also a planar guide surface 24b on a stationary machine part 22 and a guide surface 24b associated therewith, located on the mobile machine part 21, formed in particular of a plate. 26 of synthetic material with air outlet orifices 27, these can be distributed, like the orifices 7 in FIG. 5, over the length of the guide surface.
On the track 31a of the counter-guide marked as a whole by 31, roll rollers 33, two of which each time are arranged in a recess 35 of a block 36 and thus mounted by means of roller bearings, not specially shown, on pins 37 retained in the block at both ends. At its end not turned towards the rollers 33, the block 36 has a fixed support designated by 38 against the underside of a part, directed downwards from the mobile machine part 21. The support then comprises an annular intermediate layer. 38a of steel or other suitable resistant material. For fixing the block position
36, there is also provided a pin 34 permanently engaged in the block, which engages with a small play in a bore
34a of the machine part 21 and which can prevent rotation of the block 36.
The block 36 is provided at a place located between the support 38 and the rollers 33, with a central bore 41 through which a bolt 40 screwed into a tapped bore 42 of the
machine part 21. Between the head 40a of the bolt 40 which serves as a support and the bottom of a recess 43 provided in the block 36 is disposed a pack of disc springs 39. The stop formed by the head 40a of the bolt 40 is thus adjustable in height. by rotating the bolt in either direction with respect to the underside of the machine part 21 or with respect to a plane passing through the raceway 31a of the rollers 33, so that the force with which the rollers 33 are pressed against the track 31a and thus the prior tightening of the guide assembly, can be governed as required. In Figure 3, there is shown the guide in its rest state, that is to say therefore when there is no air gap, but that the guide surfaces 24a and
24b are applied against each other.
By the arrangement of bolt 40 near the rollers
33, a favorable lever arm is obtained for the application of the prior clamping force in the presence of the rigid support 38. Furthermore, this rigid support, in combination with the arrangement of the two rollers 33, satisfies the principle of 'a three-point support, favorable, which is indicated in Figure 4 by a triangle in dashed lines.
Both in the embodiment of the figures
1 and 2 that in that of Figure 3, the movable machine part can also be guided by one or more other guides, in particular by active guides in other directions, for example a transverse guide. Such another guidance may optionally be an aerostatic guidance conformed according to the invention, or else a guidance constituted in another way.
In Figures 3 to 6, there is shown a particularly judicious embodiment of the air supply duct to the air outlet orifices 27. The air supply duct in the mobile machine part 21 is then formed by a pipe 28
of metal or synthetic material that is placed in a. groove 23 of the machine part 21 and from which extend extensions 28a in the form of tubes into which the nozzles 25 which form the air outlet orifices 27 are inserted in a sealed manner. This assembly can be carried out for example by pressure by force and / or by gluing. It is also possible, by deviating from the given representation, to have a screw or thread connection. The space between the pipe 28 with its pipes 28a and the walls of the groove 23 is lined with a synthetic resin 29, in particular cast.
All the features mentioned in the previous description and all the features shown in the drawings, as far as the known state of the art allows, are to be considered, alone or in combinations, as falling within the scope of the invention.
CLAIMS
1.- Guide for machine parts that are movable relative to each other, in particular carriages, tables or movable supports of a machine tool or a measuring device, relative to a bed, a- frame, column or the like, in which one or more pairs of guide surfaces for receiving the movable machine part are formed as aerostatic guides, and in which a pair of such guide surfaces are associated, in parallel
to them, a counter-guide by means of which a prior clamping force can be applied to load the guide, characterized in that the counter-guide (11,12,31) has a track (11a, 12a, 31a) arranged on one of the machine parts (2,22) on which rollers (13,33) adapted to the other machine part (1,21) run and which are subjected to the action of an elastic force which apply them to the track (11a, 12a,
31a).
