Abstract

Polyester films, esp. of polyethylene terephthalate, are rendered antistatic by a coating of an agent consisting of lithium nitrate in an aq dispersion of a (meth)acrylic (co) polymer binder with a non-ionic emulsifier, such as an ethoxylated nonylphenoL. Pref. binder s a crosslinking acrylic copolymer E.g. an ethylacrylate/methylmethacrylate/methacrylamide copolymer with an aminoplast resin as cross linking agent. The coatings give polyester films with good antistatic props. useful in printing applications, wht sensitive coatings e.e. for diazotype materials.
