Abstract
Esp. for stress relieving large lenses etc. but applicable to any other heat treatment esp. of glass but of any material whose resistivity is in the same order of temp. sensitivity. The method is based on the fact that there is a log relationship between rate of change of electrical resistivity and glass temp. such enabling high control accuracy for the initiation of annealing during heating or near m.pt. and the control system inputs may be either rate of change, or absolute value, or both, of the measured resistivity. The start point for the process is triggered by one or both of the above attaining (a) predetermined value(s).
