Abstract
Appts. for high temp. production of reformer gas, particularly by plasma heating of a hydrocarbon in the presence of an oxidising gas, which consists of an arrangement for producing a plasma in a non-oxidising gas, i.e. neutral, inert or reducing, gas by means of two mutually adjustable arc electrodes and for injecting into this plasma a gaseous or liquid hydrocarbon as well as for injecting as oxidising gas either into the hydrocarbon or into the plasma downstream of the point of injection of the hydrocarbon.
