Abstract

Anti-androgenic 16 beta-hydrocarbyl-oestrane derivs. Title cpds. of formula (I) (where A is H or acyl and R is 2C hydrocarbyl), which are useful in the treatment of prostate adenoma, are prepd. by hydrolysing a cpd. of formula (II) or (III) (where R' is acyl or hydrocarbyl) and opt. acylating a resulting cpd. in which-A is n or further hydrolysing a product in which A is acyl.
