Abstract

Cooling glass strip during annealing. On each side of the sheet in the lehr are introduced orientable sheets of gas at a temp. above glass temp., and transverse to the glass movement direction. The gas is introduced all along the lehr at a density increasing towards the exit, to increase the supply per metre in proportion to the fall in temp. The intensity of cooling by the gas of each edge of the strip, and of the rest of it, is independently controlled.
