---1---------------- Fermeture à vis pour récipients de produits pharmaceutiques ou similaires.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

--- 1 ---------------- Screw closure for containers of pharmaceutical or similar products.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The present invention relates to a via closure with a via cap for containers of pharmaceutical products, chemicals or the like, equipped with a security means.
Screw closures of this nature are already known, equipped with a security means. Thus, there is already the possibility of fixing a tape of elastic material, for example of plastic, above the screw closure and the container. It sometimes happens that the tape is not applied firmly enough and the cap, despite the security means, can be unscrewed.
When the tape is applied sufficiently firmly to the container and to the screw cap, it can only be removed with the aid of an instrument, for example a knife.
A screw closure is also known which is connected to a lower part of annular shape by means of cross members which can be broken, an annular part of which a flange provided at the lower edge is placed behind a protuberance provided on the container.
When opening the cap, the rotational movement breaks the crosspieces between the cap and the lower part. For this screw cap, the thread and the flange placed behind the protrusion on the container are generally formed on the container by means of very expensive automatic machines. However, this requires well-defined, easily deformable materials for the caps, eg thin sheets. Cala has the disadvantage that a sufficiently curing lifetime closure cannot be obtained for pharmaceutical products. On the other hand, automatic machines for closing and sealing only operate profitably in very large series, for example for closing bottles of spirits.
Given that in the pharmaceutical industry, large series are not manufactured for a very long time and / or with the same dimensions, and given that these closures, for certain pharmaceutical products and chemical products, are not not sufficiently tight, nor chemically resistant, this method is not very favorable for the closing of containers for pharmaceutical products.
The present invention aims at the creation of a screw closure for containers of this nature, with a guarantee of inviolability and which can, even in small kinds, be manufactured and applied in a cost-effective manner, The traditional caps, their raw material and the corresponding machines, for example filling machines, should be able to be used without much modification.
The invention also relates to a manufacturing process and an installation for its implementation.
To this end, the invention essentially proposes that the cap
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
screw has an application flange or the like and the screw closure has a safety ring, part of which is placed behind this application flange and another part of which is placed behind a bead or similar on the container, and which has at least one weakened area which is ruptured by the rotation of the screw cap, so that the safety ring releases the screw cap.
This combination is particularly advantageous, since traditional screw caps, made from particular materials for specific pharmaceuticals, can be used, with little modifications, namely the presence of a curved edge at their. lower end so that the coreve @ @ @ safety ring can be used on traditional containers, which only need to have a bead or similar contact area, behind which the safety ring flange can be placed.
Rotation of the screw cap in the open direction first causes the curved edge of the cap to move relative to the bead on the container and causes pressure and ultimately rupture of the locking ring. security. This form of embodiment has the further advantage that the safety ring generally falls out of the container upon first opening; it is therefore possible to detect with the naked eye the containers selected and the containers which have already been used.
It is useful for the safety ring to have several weakened areas, preferably in an axial direction, distributed around its periphery. In this case, the ring breaks at one of these weakened zones, and one or more of the weakened non-briae zones constitutes a kind of hinge, such aorta that the ring can easily be removed from the container.
The bécarité ring is preferably formed from a bnndo or a ribbon, the ends of which are reveouvrent and which are secured to form a ring. In this case, it is particularly advantageous that the strip is at least partially covered with an adhesive agent, for example a thermoplastic material, by means of which the ring, in the covering zone, can be formed using the action of heat and / or pressure.
The invention further provides a method of manufacturing the safety ring of the screw closure, characterized by the following operations:
For ink, the strip is incised, at certain distances, transverse to the longitudinal direction of the strip, and is bent in the shape of a circle for most of the length. The strip is then cut to adopt the necessary length,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
and the ends of the sections thus obtained are placed one on top of the other, so that a closed ring is obtained.
Then, the heat and / or the pressure are made to act on the overlapping ends of the strip section, so that with the aid of the adhesive agent a joint is obtained. Then a flange directed substantially radially inside is formed on the ring or the ring thus obtained, by folding an edge of this ring. The ring or the security ring thus manufactured can then be fitted onto a screw cap equipped with an application flange, and the other edge of this ring can be bent to form a flange directed substantially radially towards the inside, below the bead on the container, so that the closure is provided with a warranty or is sealed. By means of this process it is possible, without great expense, to quickly and securely seal screw caps made of different materials.
An adaptation to caps of different sizes is also possible.
To achieve this result, the invention also covers an installation for implementing the method of manufacturing these rings or safety rings. To this end, the invention proposes that the installation comprises a revolving head, comprising several working chucks which are preferably adjustable in the axial direction.

In a preferred embodiment of the installation, the cutting tool has on its front side a profile having, next to the cutting edge or the cutting edge, two raised areas and one area adapted to the curvature of the mandrel. of work, constituting an element of application.
The advantage achieved by this profiling of the cutting tool is, among other things, that the strip is cut at a fixed distance from the working mandrel by the raised area of the cutting tool, is adapts to the shape of the working mandrel and is finally clamped by the area constituting the applicator element, so that the overlap of the end takes place in the area of the junction device, preferably constituting a heated application element,
According to another characteristic of the invention, the ring-forming head is preceded by a device for advancing the strip, this advance preferably being adjustable. This has the advantage that the length of the overlap area is variable and adaptable.
This is useful, for example, for adaptation to varying diameters of the safety ring.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the axially sliding working chucks pass through guide bushings capable of being displaced axially in a manner independent of the working chucks. These guide bushes are preferably. a lower limitation of the ring-shaped slot and therefore an additional guide for the strip during 1.'introduction into this slot. Before the rotation of the revolving head, these guide bushes, together with the working mandrel, are moved away from the action zone of the ring forming head.
According to the invention, the installation comprises a flange forming station, which has a rotating working head disposed centrally above the working mandrel, which head is driven and which is equipped at its periphery with several ruleaus, which have a profile corresponding to the rounded edge of the working mandrel and which cooperate with the working mandrel. On the ring placed around the working mandrel projecting from this working mandrel by a determined height and resting on the guide bush, the working head which approaches the mandrel forms, by means of the rollers. water, a flange directed inward.
It is useful that the rolls on their working faces have a profile which partially surrounds the ring on its vertical edge during the forming operation, and thus prevents the ring from spreading outward.
A development of the invention resides in the fact that the installation has an ejection station in which the working chucks
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
are away from the rings or safety rings and which comprises an ejector device for the safety ring, ejector device preferably consisting of a compressed air nozzle directed on the safety ring. In the ejection station, the mandrels are withdrawn in the revolver head to a degree such that their end faces lie in the plane of the upper face of the revolving plate of the revolving head, the safety ring is thus driven out of the mandrel working and can, for example by a compressed air jet, be projected into a tank located next to the revolver head.
According to one characteristic of the invention, the revolving head is preceded by an incision device. consisting of a pair of rollers arranged on either side of the strip, one of the rollers having at its periphery several costly incisions and at least one of the rollers preferably being driven.
The strip passing between these rollers is in this way weakened at regular intervals transverse to its longitudinal direction, and it is useful if the scoring knives are arranged, on the periphery of the roll, at such distances. that in any case, at least two of these weakened places are distributed on the periphery of the safety ring,
So that the installation according to the invention can operate fully automatically, it is useful that all the movements and all the operations are synchronized.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the set of tools, comprising the working chucks with their guide bushes, the ring forming head with its movable elements and the working head of the forming station. the flange are interchangeable, for the purpose of manufacturing rings or safety rings of different dimensions.
The invention is now described in more detail with its essential characteristics, with reference to the accompanying drawing:

relative of the curved edge 28 and the bead 16, broken along one of the areas will weaken 56, as shown in FIG. 6, the ring 50 can then be folded up very simply and can be removed from the container 10, given that the weakened zones. 62 and 64 unbroken form a kind of joint.
The sealing of a container closure according to the invention using a ring or a safety ring takes place, for example, as follows;
On the screw cap 20 screwed onto a container 10 is hooked a safety ring which, to begin with, has only a flange 52. upper, so that it is placed, by means of this flange 52, behind the curved edge 28 of the screw cap 20 and that its vertical edge surrounds the bead 16 on the container 10. Next is formed the lower flange 54, which tightens against the bead 16.
It is also possible to use a cap, the lower edge 24 of which does not yet have a thread 26, which thread is only formed in a pressure-closing device for the thread 14 of the container 10, and during this same operation the lower flange 54 of the safety ring 50 can be formed.
The Pigees. 9 to 13 show an apparatus for the manufacture of rings or safety rings, which comprises an incision station Ss, a forming station, ring, severing and Junction Se, a flange forming station Sr as well as 'an ejection station Sd.
Under the various workstations of the installation is disposed a revolving head 87 which in the present embodiment has four work mandrels 89 parallel to the axis of the head.
These working mandrels 89 pass through guide bushings 118 capable of being moved axially independently of the working mandrels 89, the inciaion station is essentially a pair of rollers arranged on either side of the strip with the rollers 80 and 82, the roller 82 of which has several incision cutting edges 83 distributed over its periphery.
The ring forming, sectioning and joining station In the example of the embodiment described, there is an advance device made up of two pairs of rollers with the advance rollers 94, which feed to the head of the ring. ring forming 85 a determined length. of the strip M. For this feed is provided an opening 92 in the form of a slot in the forming ring head 85, which opening opens out substantially tangentially into a circular slot 90, formed by a working mandrel 89 entering a cylindrical recess. in the ring forming head 85.
To secure the payment slot in the direction of the gun head, the
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
Guide sleeve 118 is pulled out up to the ring forming head, as shown in FIG. 10. The ring forming head further has an applicator pin 100, preferably heated with applicator dowel 102, as well as a cutting tool 96, with the applicator pin 100 applying and clamping. end of the strip introduced into the ring forming head against the working mandrel 89, the cutting tool severing the strip with its cutting edge 97, pressing this strip against the working mandrel by means of its lateral surface 98 bent and squeezing that band,
while the heating applicator element 102 applies the overlapping ends of the strip against each other and thus connects these two ends.
The method according to the invention and the corresponding installation for the manufacture of rings or safety rings operate as follows:
From a reserve reel not shown, the strip M is, via the scoring station, where it is incised at regular distances transversely to its longitudinal direction, fed to the advance device of the station Se. A work mandrel 89 enters the ring forming head 85, as shown in FIG. 10; the application pin 100, the application elements 102 and the cutting tool 96 are in their rest position away from the working mandrel.
The feed rollers 94 of the feed device convey a determined length of the web M in the ring forming head 85 through the slit-shaped opening 92 in the direction of the slit. annular 90, the length 6 being adjusted so that the end of the strip passes into the action zone of the junction station. The application pin 100 advances and clamps the end of the strip section Ms. Then, and possibly also simultaneously, the cutting tool 96 is introduced into the ring forming head 85.
The strip is severed by the cutting edge 97 of the cutting tool 96, which cooperates with the cutting edge 97a, and is, by means of the raised portion of the cutting tool 96, pressed against the strip. mandrel 89 to be clamped, by means of the curved side surface 96, against the mandrel 89. Then the application element 102 is moved in the direction of mandrel 32 @ @ mites of the strip section Ms which are located in front of the working mandrel 89 are pressed against this working mandrel and are interconnected, since in this embodiment the strip M is covered with an adhesive agent.
After a sufficient duration of the action of the heat and the pressure of the applicator element 102 on the section of annular strip Ms, the applicator pin 100, the applicator element 102 as well as the tool of

cutter 96 are returned to their home position, the working mandrel 89 is lowered together with the guide sleeve 118 and is moved away from the action zone of the ring forming head
85, as shown in FIG. 11. The revolver head 87 is, in the illustrated embodiment, rotated by 90, the following mandrel 89 is pivoted under the ring forming head 85, is moved upwards (Fig. 10) and the operation of work described above begins again.
The ring produced in the first place is meanwhile in the flange forming station Sr under a rotating working head 110, which in the illustrated embodiment is equipped with three rollers 111, which during the lowering lehte of the working head 110 bend the edge of the ring, which protrudes a predetermined height above the working mandrel 85, this edge thereby forming a flange, during which the ring s' presses downwards on the guide sleeve 118, as shown in FIG. 12.
After the completion of the flange forming operation, the working head 110 returns to its rest position, at the same time a new ring has been made at station Se, the revolver head 85 rotates by 90, the next mandrel rotates under station Se, the next ring rotates under station Sr, the flange forming operation is repeated and the ring produced in the first place is then in ejection station Sd. The working mandrel 89 continues its downward movement, until its front face forms a plane with the rotating plate of the revolver head 8 ?, and a compressed air nozzle 120 directed on the ring 50 projects the ring 50 in a tank, not shown, placed next to the revolving head, as shown in FIG. 13.
Since all the movements of the different sound elements are synchronized and must be repeated at regular intervals, the installation is equipped with a control and drive mechanism 125 which synchronizes the different movements by known mechanical or electronic means.
The essential advantage of the present invention is that the safety ring can be used with almost any shape of cap and cap material, with or without a pre-fabricated net. It is above all with costly drugs with expensive packaging that the closure according to the invention ensures a guaranteed seal. In addition, the closure is simple and economical to manufacture, and at the same time constitutes a clearly visible indication if the container has already been opened.
