Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

    Tuba or metal fitting for discharge conduits.

   The invention relates to a metal tube or fitting coated with plastic material for discharge conduits intended for piping installations.

   The pipes or fittings for discharge conduits are subject to severe requirements, on the one hand, from the point of view of their chemical inalterability and, on the other hand, of their resistance to strong variations in temperature.

   It is already known to use steel to achieve @

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 such pipes or fittings and to apply a plastic coating to these pipes or fittings. However, these steel tubes have the disadvantage of relatively heavy weight, which is important for transport, storage and assembly.

   One could consider, for this reason, to use aluminum or its alloys, which have a low weight and good thermal conductivity, to produce tubes or fittings for discharge conduits. However, tubes or fittings made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy are just not suitable for the realization of a discharge conduit, because they lack the desired chemical inalterability, in particular in the presence of alkaline detergents. No plastic coating for pipes or fittings made of aluminum or aluminum alloys has been known hitherto, due to the fact that the plastic coatings known hitherto do not exhibit adhesive properties. sufficient, in particular in the presence of the variable thermal stresses to which the discharge conduits are subjected.

   The invention aims to show the means of producing a tube or fitting of the type indicated above which, on the one hand, has as little weight as possible and which, on the other hand, responds as widely as possible to the 'set: the conditions required from a discharge duct element intended for piping installations, namely the greatest possible chemical resistance and the best possible coefficient of adhesion of the plastic coating to thermal stresses highly variable to which such discharge conduits are subjected, as well as to mechanical stresses.

   According to the invention, the metal body of the pipe or its extensions is made of aluminum or aluminum alloy and this metal body is provided on all its faces with a plastic covering with the interposition of an intermediate layer of 'a material that promotes adhesion.

   An intermediate layer based on synthetic resin will advantageously be used for this purpose.

   In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the covering material consists of polyvinyl chloride.

   The metal body of aluminum or aluminum alloy guarantees, on the one hand, a specially reduced weight, and on the other hand, good thermal conductivity of the pipe or fitting.

   The plastic coating, preferably polyvinyl chloride, exhibits especially high chemical resistance and especially low porosity and the intermediate layer ensures the required coefficient of adhesion of the coating to the metal body.

   The fact that the inner metal body is surrounded on all its faces by a coating ensures complete protection of said body.

   The description which will follow next to the drawing. appended, given by way of non-limiting example, will clearly explain how the invention can be carried out, the particulars which emerge both from the drawing and from the text forming, of course, part of said invention.

   The single figure is a longitudinal half-section view of two tubes joined by a sleeve for a discharge duct.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   The tubes 1 and 2 consist primarily of an interior metal body 3 in aluminum or aluminum alloy,.

   The tube element represented by the reference 1 can also be considered as the extension of the tube element 2, which would therefore give, in this case, a single tube having the same appearance in section.

   The metal body 3 is provided on all its faces with a coating 4 of polyvinyl chloride.

   Between the inner metal body 3 and the polyvinyl chloride coating 4 is interposed an intermediate layer 5 made of a synthetic resin-based material which promotes adhesion.
