"plastic container, with associated closure".
The invention relates to a container of plastic, with associated closing member.
As is known, sheets of products packaged in plastic containers collapse the walls of the container, as these products absorb air from the top space in the container and thereby create a partial vacuum, which leads to partial collapse of the container walls. Such a deformation of the container can be avoided by providing a channel in the closing member through which the container can "breathe". It has been found, however, that even during normal transport a part of the product can leak out through such a channel and the container thereby obtains an unsightly appearance.
The object of the invention is to provide a "breathable" container in which the part of the I) duet that wants to attract away is kept enclosed and therefore does not

spoil the appearance of the holder.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by the closure member cooperating with the neck of the container in such a way that a channel is formed therebetween through which atmospheric air can enter the upper part of the container to catch the passage in the container. The product present from this upper container portion absorbed air, while simultaneously forming a lock between the inner and outer ends of this channel, which retains any product leaking from the container into the channel.
In a practical embodiment, the neck of the container is of cylindrical design and provided with an outer circumferential rib located at a distance from the mouth edge, while the closing member consists of a cap with a cylindrical inner shell and an outer shell surrounding this inner shell with such an intermediate space. , that when the container is closed, the inner surface of the outer jacket and the outer surface of the inner jacket strip. fit snugly against the outer circumferential rib and the inner surface of the neck, while at least one channel is formed between the inner mantle and the inner surface of the neck,
communicating through the mouth edge of the neck with the annular space between the inner surface of the outer shell and the outer surface of the neck, the outer circumferential rib together with the inner surface of the outer shell forming the said lock. between the mouth edge and a shoulder of the container, while the free end edge of the outer shell of the cap abuts the shoulder of the container, so that closed, but accessible to air.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
spaces above and below the circumferential rib are formed.
The channel between the neck and the inner shell of the cap may be formed by a flattened portion of the outer surface of the inner shell.
The cap may further include a dispensing opening, and the closure member further comprising a cap with a closure plug that fits snugly into the dispensing opening.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing with an exemplary embodiment.
FIG. 1 is an axial section through the neck portion of the container and the closure member placed thereon according to the invention; Fig. 2 is a cross-section through the closure member with the closure cap open and FIG. 3 is a bottom view of the closure member according to FIG. 2.
The container 1 shown in the drawing consists of plastic, e.g. polyethylene or polypropylene, and has a cylindrical neck 2 with an outer circumferential rib arranged between the mouth edge 4 and a shoulder 5 of the container
The closing member 6 associated with the container 1 cooperates with the neck 2 in such a way that a channel 7 is formed therebetween, through which atmospheric air can enter the space in the upper part of the container to replace the air produced by it in the container. 1 product present from this space has been absorbed.
The closing member furthermore forms, together with the neck of the container, a lock located between the inner and outer ends of the channel, which lock retains any product that has leaked into the channel from the container.
The closing member 6 consists of a cap 9 with a cylindrical inner shell 11 and an inner shell surrounding this

outer casing 10. The distance between the inner casing 1 and the outer casing 10 is such that, when the container is closed (see fig. 1), the inner surface 12 of the outer casing and the outer surface 13 of the inner casing 11 strip closely abut the outer circumferential rib 3 and the inner surface 15 of the neck 2.
The inner casing 11 interferes with the inner surface 15 of the neck 2 together, so that a channel 16 is formed therebetween, communicating with the space 7 via the mouth edge 4 of the neck 2 and the inner surface 17 of the cap 9 between the inner surface 12 of the outer casing 10 and the outer surface of the sleeve 2. In the illustrated embodiment, two diametrically opposed channels 16 are provided, which are located between the inner surface 15 of the neck 2 and two flattened portions 18 of the inner casing 11 (see fig. 3). The outer circumferential rib 3 abuts against the inner surface 12 of the outer jacket 10 to form a lock 19, which retains any product that has leaked from the container 1.
When the closure member 6 is placed on the neck 2 of the container, the free end edge 20 of the outer shell 10 abuts against the shoulder 5, so that closed but air-accessible spaces 7, 21 are formed above and below the outer peripheral rim,
The cap 9 is provided with a dispensing opening 22, while the closing member 6 is further provided with a closing cap 23 hingedly connected thereto, with a closing plug 24 fitting tightly into the dispensing opening 22. In this way, the dispensing opening 22 can be closed.
The outer casing 10 is provided on the outside with ribs 25, which prevent the risk of accidental opening of the cover 23.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
@ Reduce.
The outer casing 10 does not seal perfectly against the outer circumferential rib 3 due to an unavoidable shrinkage occurring at the positions indicated by 26 opposite the ribs 25 during the formation of the closure member. Neither does the end edge 20 of the outer shell 10 seal perfectly against the shoulder 5, due to normal small irregularities that occur in the blow molding process in which the container 1 is manufactured.
These small irregularities allow the atmospheric air to enter the container through the channel 7 and through the channels 16, but any product leaking from the container through the channels 16 is retained by the outer circumferential rib 3. It is clear that the amount of the product that leaks out to the space 7 above the circumferential rib 3 is very small, and thus the portion that would leak away from it along the circumferential rib 3 is negligibly small and, moreover, would still be stopped by the edge 20 adjacent to the shoulder 5.
REQUIREMENTS .
