 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  "Elastomeric profile for watertight surrounds continued from vitra en and panels"
Modern construction increasingly replaces mortar joints with more or less plastic or hardening mastics, and in turn the latter are frequently replaced by prefabricated elastomer or rubber profiles which are by their nature better suited to meet requirements. socrue demands of modern buildings.

   Numerous disappointments with regard to waterproofing and behavior in bad weather have, however, been experienced with the profiles of the species used up to now, in particular with those whose wings are very tapered in the hope of achieving on the glass a great and durable grip.

   In fact, the slightest inequalities due to some faulty manufacturing process or tolerance, the necessary welds or joints, more or less successful during assembly, inevitably cause

 external, radial openings intended to flatten out on the face of the glazing.

   In order to better show the particularities, t some embodiments of the object of the invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: - Figure 1 is a cross section in the profile according to the invention in the unplaced state.

   - Figure 2 is a similar section of the same profile in place.

   - Figure 3 shows schematically in elevation the implementation of a wedge.

   - Figure 4 shows in cross section various types of joints for the profile according to the invention.

   The profile 1 made of an elastomer of great Shore hardness has a strong U-shaped cross section, the ends 2 and 3 of the wings .1 and 2 approaching each other (see figure 1) so that, placed in place, (figure 2) they are applied with a certain pressure on the faces 6 and 1 of the glazing or panel 8.

   In the internal face of the wings, near edges 2 and 10 are hollowed out two longitudinal grooves 11 and 12 in which is housed a bead 13 made of a flexible and compressible elastomer and that the pressure exerted by the ends 2 and 3 of the wings crushes somewhat against faces 1 and 1 of the glazing, thus forming a watertight and airtight seal, while being flexible enough to allow small displacements due to expansions and contractions and variable loads.

   FIG. 3 shows how the two rectilinear grooves 11-11 are joined together by a connecting quarter-circle 14. Thus the joint formed by the bead 13 normally continues to come around the corner, as for the joint formed by the bead 13. sealing.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

   The elastomeric bead may, in cross section, depending on the conditions of service or convenience, have one or the other of the shapes shown in Figure 4, for example of a solid cylindrical bead, a tube, d 'a solid or hollow bead having one or two longitudinal ribs arranged like antennas, or any other suitable shape.

   Moreover, the invention is not limited to the only forms. described above, but to all other equivalents differing only in constructive details.
