<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
17' - 18'.

CONTROL BUTTON POSITION INDICATION DEVICE.
The present invention relates to control buttons having to give an indication or a visual identification, for example of a number, a letter or a color and receiving in a housing or with respect to a wall a sliding movement, of tilting or sliding.
Its purpose is to make the state of the button more easily and more reliably controlled and consists mainly of cooperation with
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the inscription of a movable reflecting surface in such a way that in one position the inscription is hidden while after sliding, tilting or sliding) the inscription is returned by the reflecting surface and becomes visible.
It will be understood that the invention finds an advantageous use in particular when a series of buttons are juxta-. installed (for example, automatic phonograph selectors, electrical or mechanical controls).
Thanks to the device provided, the identifications become clearly visible and mention as clearly as possible that the buttons whose identifications are those of the number to be formed have indeed been operated and that the operation that is sought to be carried out will be the one that answers to desires.
In order to make the intention clear. various embodiments thereof will be described below with reference to the drawings in which:
Figures 1, 1A, 2, 2A; Figures 3, 3A, 4, 4A and Figures 5, 5A, 6,6A relate to different embodiments.
Figures 7 and 8 relate to the case of juxtaposed buttons. '
Figures 9 and 10 relate to another embodiment.
In Figures 1 and 2 there is shown at 1 the front wall of an apparatus for example of a casemaker and at 2 a sliding push button in this wall
According to the invention, the button is provided towards the front with a transparent part 3 which comprises an inclined mirror 4 or a reflecting surface while
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
on one of the walls of the passage opening is provided a plate 5 on which there is an inscription, for example a number 4 which can be made removable by means of a rim or a gripping tongue 5.
Under these conditions, if one exerts a push on the button so as to cause its sliding by making it pass from the position of figure 1 in that of figure 2 the number or another inscription which was hidden (fig. 1A). ) will be reflected by the mirror and become clearly visible (fig. 2A).
Figures 3 and 4 relate to a variant in which the button is shaped so as to include two reflecting surfaces 41 and 42 and plates 5 and 5 provided with inscriptions are provided on opposite faces of the sliding opening. of the button in positions such as when the button is in an extended position (fig. 3) the inscription 5 is invisible but the inscription 52 is reflected by the mirror 42 and therefore visible (fig. 3A) while when the button occupies a retracted position (fig. 4) the inscription 52 is invisible and the inscription 51 is reflected by the mirror 41 and therefore visible (fig. 4A).
Figures 5 and 6 show how the invention can be applied to a button 7 of an electric switch which can be tilted around an axis 8,
This button is provided with two reflective inclined surfaces 9 and 10 which can be provided in the bottom of transparent parts or blocks 11 and 12.
The rectangular section housing comprises a bottom 13 of the upper 14 and lower 15 and side flanges
16 and flanges 14 and 15 receive clamps 17-18 provided on an inner branch with an inscription or a number
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
17 '- 18'.
In the position of figure 5 the inscription 17 is reflected by the mirror 9 and is therefore visible (fig. 5A) while the inscription 181 is not. On the other hand, in the position of FIG. 6, the inscription 181 is reflected by the mirror 10 and is therefore visible (FIG. 6A) while the inscription 17 is invisible, the invention is particularly advantageous in the case where the buttons of command carrying cipher (fig. 7) or letters (fig. 8) are juxtaposed which makes it possible to display in a perfectly perceptible way) groups of digits having to force a number (fig. 7) or groups of letters (fig. 3).
In the case of FIG. 7, the buttons do not carry an indication and this only appears thanks to the reflection when the buttons to intervene have been pressed.
In the case of Figure 8, the buttons rub; indications and the plates 5. 51,52 are colored so that the reflection has the effect of giving the blutons a coloring, for example red, when they have been inserted,
In the case of Figures 9 and 10, a housing 19. provided with a slide 20 for a latch 21 bears on its upper face 22 the juxtaposed indications "open" and "close".
A sliding button 23 integral with the latch 21 door; a tenon will operate 24 and include a transparent part
25 and an opaque part 26 between which there is a mirror 27 so that alternately, that is to say according to the position of the button 23 and consequently of the latch 21, the indications "OPEN" and "CLOSE" are visible from the 'outside, j
