<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Improvements to roller shutters and curtains".
The present invention relates to improvements made to the devices forming the subject of Belgian Patent No. 659,224 of February 3, 1965 and in particular to a device for closing openings by roller shutter or curtain comprising straps and / or laces. , of the type made of elastic material, such as rubber or a synthetic material.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The aforementioned device makes it possible to damp the vibrations of the surfaces constituting the apron of this shutter, vibrations due to the action of the wind or of the maneuver. The straps and the laces of this device however have the drawback of having a on the one hand a low resistance to wear and, on the other hand, a low resistance to elongation.
The object of the invention is to overcome this drawback and to provide a device comprising straps and laces capable of damping the aforementioned vibrations while offering sufficient resistance to wear and elongation.
To this end, according to the invention, the elastic material used for sound dampening is combined with a non-elastic material so as to form straps and laces resistant to elongation and / or wear.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the non-elastic material of the straps and of the laces is constituted by a tape of a natural or synthetic textile material, of a metallic material or of a mixed material, ru - ban to which the elastic material is attached.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the elastic material used is divided into separate elements, fixed at a distance from each other to the non-elastic material.
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the non-elastic material of the straps and of the laces consists of a thread of a natural or synthetic textile material, of a metallic material or of a mixed material, said thread being embedded in the aforesaid elastic material.
Another subject of the invention is means making it possible to reduce the transverse play of a shutter or roller shutter behind the scenes of a bay closing device.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
According to the invention, the sub-slat of the shutter or curtain protrudes lengthwise from the other slats so as to reduce the transverse play of the shutter or curtain behind the scenes.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the sub-blade is made longer than the other blades by the addition of an extension pad, made of wear-resistant material, on both sides. other of this sub-blade.
The invention also relates to the aforementioned straps and laces for a berry closing device.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of the drawings appended to this specification by way of non-limiting examples.
Figure 1 is an elevational view of a strap according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a section on line II-II of Figure 1.
Figures 3 and 4 show variants of the strap shown in Figure 1.
Figure 5 is a section on line V-V of Figure 3.
FIG. 6 schematically shows a portion of the shutter apron provided with straps according to the invention.
Figures 7 and 8 are variants of Figure 2.
FIGS. 9 to 17 show, in section, the slides and laces according to the invention.
Figures 18 and 19 illustrate a roller shutter or curtain having a sub-blade intended to reduce the transverse play of the shutter or curtain in its slides.
In the various figures, the same reference notations designate similar elements.
The straps 4, shown in Figures 1 to 8, are intended to cooperate with the apron 1 of a shutter or curtain
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
roll-up consisting of blades 2. The straps 4 are provided so that, when the apron 1 is wound up on a drum, these straps act as an intermediate thickness and prevent any blade 2 from coming into contact with it. no other strip belonging to the previous layer wound up to the next layer which will be wound up.
In order to eliminate noise by absorbing vibrations and shocks of the blades caused by the wind or the operation of the apron, the straps 4 are made of a layer of elastic material 23, such as rubber or synthetic material. , this layer of matter is, to give; the straps 4 have good resistance to elongation and to wear, doubled or combined with a layer of non-elastic material 24.
The strap 4 shown in Figures 1 and 2 consists of a layer 23 of elastic material, of rectangular section, made of synthetic material in the form of closed cell foam and on which is applied, by gluing, a tape 25 made synthetic fibers, for example fibers known as "Nylon". The tape 25 could also be metallic or made of textile material, the fixing of said tape being able to be effected by stapling or riveting. The tape 25 could also be made by combining textile, synthetic fibers and metal. The strap 4 shown in Figures 3 and 5 consists of a layer 23 of elastic material in which is embedded a non-elastic element 24 in the form of a wire.
The elastic layer 23 entering into the composition of the straps 4 being of a relatively high price, the straps can be, as shown in Figures 4 and 6, produced by fixing to a non-elastic tape
24 of the elastic elements 26 separated, arranged at a distance from each other, so that each of these elements
26 comes into contact, during the operation of the apron of the roller shutter or curtain, with the part of the profile of the blades 2 to be protected, that is to say the loops of said blades.
Straps
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
4 may also consist of a layer of elastic material 23 or elastic elements 26 having a triangular (Figure 7) or trapezoidal (Figure 8) section, the profile of these straps offering the advantage of having a very large flexibility in crushing during operation of the shutter apron or roller shutter.
The aforementioned straps 4 are fixed at their two ends by their layer 24 of non-elastic material so that, despite the elasticity of the elastic layer 23, the strap does not offer any appreciable elongation. traction when maneuvering the abovementioned apron.
In order to absorb as much as possible the vibrations of the blades d.u aforesaid apron, laces 19 are provided in the slides 3 of the shutter or roller shutter. The elastic material constituting these laces * which is arranged in the slideways 3 to absorb the aforementioned vibrations, has the drawback of wearing out quite quickly.
The object of the invention is to remedy this drawback by associating the elastic material of the laces 19 with a layer of wear material 27. Each of the laces 19 lining the slide 3, shown in FIG. 9, is formed. killed with a layer of elastic material 26 glued to a wing 29 of the slide, the layer of wear material 27, in the form of a tape, being itself glued to the layer of material 28.
Figure 10 shows a variant of Figure 9 while Figure 11 shows a lace 19 fixed to the wing 29 of a slide 3 by the wear tape 27 glued, by its edges, side, in grooves 30 formed in the aforementioned wing 29, the layer of elastic material 28 being either held between said tape and this wing 29, or glued to the tape 27. Figures] 2 and 13 show! laces 19 made up of a layer of elastic material 28 made integral, for example by gluing, with a wear tape 27, these laces being fixed by crimping the tape 27 on the wing 29
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
a slide 3.
The laces 19 shown in Figures 14 and 15 also consist of an elastic layer and a wear tape 27, the laces are attached by riveting said wear tape to the wings 29 of the slides 3. Considering the Due to the high cost of elastic material, the laces can also be made up of elastic elements 31 separated and fixed at a distance from one another to a wear strip 27 (FIG. 16).
The wear tapes 27 can, like the tapes 27 of the straps 4, be made of textile, synthetic or metallic materials or else by combining these materials. to avoid the impact of the apron of a shutter against the lower part of the opening during the descent of said shutter, the thickness of the elastic material 28 of the laces' 19 combined 'with the wear material 27, increased' progressively, in a downward direction and in the vicinity of the foot 32 of the slide, to provide the sub-blade 33 of the shutter apron with a space 34 that tightens in order to progressively brake this sub-blade 33- (figure (17).
The invention also relates to an apron de.volet whose base-blade 33 protrudes in length from the other blades so as to reduce the transverse play of the shutter in its slides 3 (FIG. 18). This transverse play can also be reduced by fitting on a sub-blade 33 of the same length as the shutter blades, an extension pad 35, made of wear-resistant material, on either side of this sub -blade 33 (figure 19).
¯ It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and that many modifications can be made to these latter without departing from the scope of this patent.
