<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
(figure 8A).

APPARATUS FOR CUTTING. OF PLASTIC FOAMS AND OTHER SIMILAR MATERIALS.
The present invention relates to a simple and practical apparatus intended to be used for cutting plastic foams.
This apparatus can be used as a dwarf technical tool also as a toy, and it is characterized in the main order in that it is constituted by a handle or a hollow handle provided with = oyons nation in electric current and of which is bolidaire a fork whose usually hollow branches each delivering pssage to an electrical conductor connected by a wire intended to be heated and used to cause the fusion, of the

material with which it comes into contact and thus to cut this material.
In the handle can be housed one or more power supply batteries but the current can also come from the reed via a low voltage transformer,
In order to make the invention fully understood, two exemplary embodiments thereof will be described below with reference to the drawings:
In Figures 1 to 6, the power is supplied by batteries and in Figures 8 to 12, by network.
Figures 1, 2 and 3 give by their comparison, a deplored view showing all the parts entering into the constitution of the device or the utensil fed by pestle.
Figures 4 and 5 are detail views of the cap.
FIG. 6 is a sectional view of the handle and of the part forming a connection with the branches.
Figures 7 and 8A are detail views.
FIGS. 8 and 9 give, by their reconciliation, all of the parts entering into the constitution of the apparatus with transformer supply.
Figures 10 and 11 are detail views of the cap.
Figure 12 is a sectional view similar to Figure 6 in the case of transformer feeding.
The device consists of a handle or a hollow handle with which is integral a fork whose branches 2, 3 are advantageously hollow and providing passage to conductors.
4, 5 of relatively high section which are supported at the end of the branches (at 9, 10) and * usai in the example represented by intermediate rings 6, 7, 8.
The support 8 is housed in a notch 20 formed in the conductor 5 so as to prevent the lateral displacement of the wire.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
(figure 8A).
(t1N! The conductors 4,5 extend beyond the end of the branches 2, 3 of the fork and support a wire 11 connecting them, intended to be heated and used to cause the fusion of the material with which it comes in contact and thus to cut it.
Inside the handle 1 and in general in polished. diametrically opposed joints 12 and 13 are provided, one of which is fixed to a fold 14 terminated by a tab 16 of the conductor 4, the fold 14 is held by a support 15, the other strip 13 ends by a hook 17 which can come into contact with the flattened end 18 of the conductor 5 under the action of a button 19 which can be manipulated by hand.
In handle 1 can be accommodated round piles.
21, 22 which, in the example, are two in number (Figures 1 to 7).
The batteries 21, 22 are placed in series: the electrode 211 of the battery 21 comes into contact with the tab 16 while the electrode 221 of the battery 22 touches the bottom or the rear part of the battery 21.
With the bottom 23 of the battery 22 comes into contact a spring 24 housed inside a non-conductive plug 25 provided in its bottom with a conductive washer 26 touched by the spring 24. This washer 26 is integral. a leaf spring 27 coming into contact with the leaf 13 when the stopper is placed inside the handle. The conductive strip 13 therefore forms the switch and rear contact of the batteries.
In general, the stopper 25 is fixed on the handle 1 by a bayonet connection and, for this purpose, on the stopper 25 are provided diametrically opposed lugs 28, 29 (Figure 5) offset in height and fitting into notches. 30, 31 planned on the

lower edge of the handle and similar to those of r.rmotunu 'bayonet (figure 7).
In this embodiment, if you press the button 19, the current supplied by the batteries 21, 22 follows the path: 22-
EMI4.2
22'-21-21 '.. 16-l.kt-l.l-5-1 $, 7-.3-2? -2421, .. z3 22.
To cut the material (rubber foam), while pressing the button 19, it is necessary to put the wire 11 in contact with it and to move the utensil.
Figures 8 to 12 relate to a variant in which the supply takes place by a low voltage transformer (not shown).
EMI4.3
The handle; J.1; I 1 is provided with a hollow plug 32 on the outer face of which lugs 281, 291 are provided which engage in the notches 30, 31 of the handle 1, thus constituting a bayonet connection.
In the plug 32 are pierced apertures 33 allowing passage to leaf springs 34, 341 to which are connected conductors 35, 36 in general connection with a low voltage transformer (not shown).
When you press button 19, the current flows
EMI4.4
depending on the route: 35-34-lz-1.-ly-11-5-1 $ -17-13-jk'-s6.
The conductive strip 12 is therefore intended for use with a transformer.
