<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
La présente invention a pour but de fournir un système indicateur qui est à la fois précis, sûr, robuste et économique, et qui présente un ensemble de propriétés, que doit posséder ,en système de ce genr@ pour être susceptible d'un emploi géné- ralisé, à uasoir il doit fournir une indication digitale pouvant être interprêtée par du personnel non spécialisé;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

In some countries, the pricing of electrical energy is based on the maximum power absorbed by the user. For high powers, the absorbed power is determined using quarter-hour meters and sometimes using integrating ammeters. Such a system is however too expensive to allow generalized use and, moreover, reading the indication requires specialized personnel.
The object of the present invention is to provide an indicator system which is at the same time precise, reliable, robust and economical, and which exhibits a set of properties which, in a system of this type, must have in order to be capable of general use. - carried out, at the display it must provide a digital indication that can be interpreted by non-specialized personnel;
it must indicate that a given power is exceeded for a certain period of time, for example of the order of a minute, but must hardly be influenced by overloads of very short duration, for example short-term circuits, while such brief overloads or short circuits must not interfere with the conservation of measurement accuracy; furthermore, it is useful for the measurement range to be as wide as possible, in order to avoid the multiplicity of devices for different powers, which would significantly increase the cost price.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by virtue of the fact that the indicating device is constituted by two essential parts, the first of which is an indicating measuring device comprising a bimetallic strip which is traversed by a current proportional to the current absorbed by it. user and actuates an indicator member when this current exceeds for a certain time, for example by 1 order one minute, a predetermined value, in particular the contractual value while the second
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
part includes a saturable transformer,
the secondary winding of which supplies said bimetallic strip and the primary winding of which is traversed by a current equal or proportional to the current absorbed by the user and which is adjustable to any one of a range of values, in accordance with the nominal contractual power to be controlled in each particular case, this adjustment being carried out by making this current act on a more or less large fraction of a multiple tap winding of a transformer.
According to one embodiment of the invention, this multiple tap winding is applied, as a primary winding, directly to said saturable transformer and its multiple taps correspond to the various values of the range of contractual powers. To be able to be applied to said saturable transformer. different voltages, for example 220 V and 380 V, respectively, the device may include the same indicating measuring device, but the transformer must be specially constructed for either of these voltages.
According to another embodiment of the invention, said multiple tap winding is applied as a secondary winding to a second transformer, namely a current transformer, the primary of which is supplied by the current to be measured, while a end of said multitap winding is connected to one end of the primary winding of the saturable transformer, and that the tap point of said multitap winding, which corresponds to each particular use, is connected to the other end of the primary of the saturable transformer.
This latter embodiment can be adapted to allow its use at different current voltages.
To this end, the invention provides an embodiment in which the primary winding of the saturable transformer is
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
provided with at least one intermediate tap and switching means are provided for connecting one of the links of the secondary winding of the current transformer, either at one end or at an intermediate point of the primary of the saturable transformer, depending on the voltage greater or lesser of the current used, the subdivision of the primary winding of the latter transformer being such that, for the same contractual nominal power, the indicating device will work in practically the same conditions, whatever the voltage of the current used, if the switching to the primary of the saturable transformer is made in a manner corresponding to this voltage.
Other features and advantages of the device according to the invention will emerge from the description of a few exemplary embodiments, which will be given below with reference to the appended schematic drawings, in which:

Fig. 10 is an overview of another variant embodiment.
The measuring system comprises a bimetallic strip 1 which is traversed by a current proportional to the current absorbed by the user, one end of the bimetallic strip being fixed to the housing of the device, while its free end moves according to the load. . On this movable end of the bimetallic strip rests an indicator light 2 with the aid of a nose 3. This indicator takes the form of a caliper and is pivotally mounted on an axis 4 whose support 5 is fixed to the casing. As long as the load does not exceed the agreed value, the nose 3 rests on the end of the bimetallic strip t the indicator 2 does not appear in a window 6 provided in the housing and is in the position shown in dotted lines in fig. . 4, the mechanism occupying the position shown in FIG. 1.
If the load exceeds said agreed value for a certain time, the bimetal 1 bends sufficiently to release the hooking nose 3 of the indicator 2 and the latter falls so as to appear in the window 6 (position shown in solid lines in Fig. 4), the sight glass being retained by a suitable stop, such as a beak 7 of the sight glass which meets the support 5. The system is then in the position of FIG. 2 and remains in it as long as the dispenser has not brought it back to the initial position. This is done by means of a push button 8 which passes through the casing and is provided with a seal 9 which must be removed in order to be able to actuate the button 8, so as to avoid fraud.
To return the mechanism to the initial position, the button 8 is moved in the direction of arrow B (fig. 3) so as to act on a nose 10 integral with the sight glass 2 and raise the latter. To ensure that the indicator is hooked to the end of the bimetal 1, this end laterally forms a ramp on which the nose 3 slides, so that the indicator 2 moves laterally along arrow A
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
compressing a spring 11 surrounding the axis 4 between the support
5 and an arm of the indicator 2, this spring finally sliding the nose 3 on the end of the bimetallic strip 1 in the opposite direction of the arrow
Thanks to the lateral movement in the direction of the arrow A, the indicator light 2 is not subjected to excessive stress while it is raised by the push-button 8,
even if the bimetallic strip is cold.
In order to make the measurement system independent of variations in ambient temperature, the support 5 of axis 4 of sight glass 2 is made up of a compensation bimetallic strip, the characteristics of which are such that for a given load the hooking of the nose 3 bimetallic strip 1 is independent of the variations. ambient temperature.
To obtain a precise and economical manufacture, the indicating device is established for a nominal value, standard of the intensity of the current to be respected, for example
5 amps. This means that indicator light 2 does not appear in window 6 when a current of 5 A. flows indefinitely through bimetallic strip 1, but that for a current of 5.5 A., for example, the indicator appears after one or more minutes.
In the case of a single-phase circuit, a single measuring system is sufficient. In the case of a three-phase circuit, one, two or three systems can be used depending on the possible unbalance of the load *
In order to solve the double problem consisting in, on the one hand, protecting the measuring bimetal 1 against overloads and, on the other hand, obtaining a wide range of use of the device, @ the indicator described above is associated with a transformer.? of saturable current, the secondary winding of which supplies said bimetallic strip and the primary winding of which is traversed by a current equal or proportional to the current absorbed by
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
User and which is adjustable according to the contractual nominal power to be controlled.
In the embodiment shown in fig. 1, this saturable transformer comprises a core 12, the secondary winding 13 of which is connected to the bimetallic strip 1 by the terminals 14, 15 ,. and is set so that a determined current, for example 5A, flows through bimetallic strip 1 at the nominal value of the current. The core 12 is such that the intensity of the secondary current does not exceed, for example, twice the nominal value, regardless of the primary current, so that the bimetal 1 cannot be overheated.
The primary 16 is a winding with multiple intermediate taps 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 which can cooperate in turn with a common current supply 0, so as to obtain a wide range of use of the apparatus. We can, for example, make a transformer whose primary is established for the nominal currents correspond to 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 KW in 380 V. three-phase, and another for 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 KW in three-phase 220 V, so that with a single type of indicator and two types of transformers, the majority of needs are satisfied.
To carry out the switching, the transformer can be fitted with a series of terminals marked 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, corresponding to the power (Figure 1), and connect one of the current supply conductors to that of these terminals which corresponds to the tariff targeted in each particular case.
Another possibility is to provide two fixed terminals 22, 23 connected to the current leads and one of which is connected to one end of the primary winding, while the other is connected to a removable bar 24 which can be moved to connect it to one of the various sockets on the primary (Fig. 5).
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
According to another variant, the bar 24 can be made integral with a barrel 25 carrying a series of numbers corresponding to the possible powers and arranged in such a way that, for each position given to the connection bar ,. the figure indicating the corresponding power (for example the figure 2 in the case of fig. 6) appears in a window 26 of the casing 27. This system gives an immediate digital indication and very easy to read.
The variant embodiments according to FIGS. 5 and 6 have the drawback of requiring the movement of two screws during a change of tariff.
Figures 7 to 9 show a variant which requires only the movement of a single screw. In this case, the output terminal 22 is connected to a backing plate 28 pierced with a series of tapped holes 29 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) 'each of the outputs of the primary winding is connected to a conductive strip 30 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) pierced with a hole and arranged so that the hole of each blade faces one of the tapped holes 29 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6); an insulating plate 31 pierced with holes is placed between the counterplate 28 and the blades 30.
A fixed price is obtained by placing a screw 32 in the appropriate hole 28, through the hole of the corresponding blade 30.
A digital indication is obtained by making the screw 32 integral with a barrel 25 similar to that of FIG. 6.
FIG. 10 shows a particularly advantageous embodiment in which use is made of two transformers.
In this figure, 1 designates the bimetallic strip of the indicating device, not shown. This bimetallic strip is traversed by the current brought by the terminals 14,15 and supplied by the secondary 13 to the saturable current transformer, of which the core 33 and the
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
secondary 13 are established so that the operation is linear in the measuring range, but that any excessive overload of the bimetallic element is avoided, saturation being for example reached for an overload of about 50%.
The primary 34 is connected to the secondary 35 of a current transformer 36 of the usual type, the primary 37 of which is supplied by the measured current source, which is connected to the terminals 38, 39, this primary being established for the contractual power. maximum expected. The secondary 35 is provided with multiple taps 40, 41, 42, 43, 44 for nominal currents corresponding to for example 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 KW, the taps being marked by these numbers. These taps define the parts of the secondary winding 35 which are active in the various possibilities of use, and in each case the ends of the active part are connected to the primary winding 34 of the saturable transformer.
The power switching is done using a movable bar 45 which pivots around a fixed end, connected to the primary 34 of the saturable transformer, while its other end is joined to one or the other of the taps. . It goes without saying that the variant embodiments of this switching, as described with reference to FIGS. 6 and 7, can also be applied here.
Switching on secondary 35 has the advantage of being done at very low intensity, even for very high nominal values of the measured current. This allows the device to be used for higher powers than was possible in the embodiments described above, where the switching was done on the primary. In addition, a very tight scaling of the range of adjustment values is possible, that is to say with a very small difference between the various power values for which the adjustment is intended.
The primary winding 37 of the transformer 36 is
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
established for the maximum contractual power foreseen, the whole of the secondary winding 35 then being connected to the pri @@ ire 34 of the saturable transformer, by connecting the barrotto 45 to the corresponding socket 44, in the example illustrated. tré, at a power of 14 KW. For lower power ratings, strip 45 will be connected to one or other of sockets 40 to 43.
To allow the device to be used for more than one value of the voltage of the current to be measured, the primary 34 of the saturable transformer is subdivided into corresponding sections, for example into two sections in the illustrated example. especially for voltages of 220 and 380 V, respectively.
The terminal terminals 46, 48 will connect the primary 34 to the secondary 35 for the voltage of 380 V, while the terminals 46, 47 will be used for 220 V, the passage from the terminal 48 to the intermediate terminal 47 being done by means of the switch
49. The subdivision of the primary 34 is done so that the nominal current values are in the ratio 1 1 between terminals 46, 47 and 46, 48, respectively, # 3 for example 5A between terminals 46 and 47 , while it will be around 2.8 A between terminals 46 and 48. For the same contractual nominal power, it will therefore suffice to switch from terminal 47 to terminal 48 when going from 220 to 380 V, or vice versa.
The protection of the device against overloads remains fully ensured in all cases.
