<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>

As shown, the machine comprises a frame 20 on which is supported to be able to move back and forth in a horizontal plane, an oscillator 21 in the form of a table which rests on a plate 22 fixed to this frame and supported by a shaft 23 properly journaled.
An oscillation-producing motor 24 operated by suitable fluid is provided to drive the shaft and the table 21

conventional from a sheet of molten glass (not shown) is disposed at an appropriate point in the vicinity of the peripheral path of oscillator 21. A blow mold generally designated 26 is mounted nearby. from the peripheral path of oscillator 21 to a location diametrically opposite to the loading chute 25.
Separate elevator mechanisms generally designated ± and 28 are mounted close to the peripheral path of table 21 at angularly spaced points of loading chute 25 for a reason which is indicated below.
The elevator mechanism 27 comprises a motor cylinder 29 supplied with a suitable fluid and suitably supported from the plate 22, and a piston rod 30 terminating at its upper end with a swelling head 31. Likewise, the elevator mechanism 28 comprises, a motor cylinder 2 supplied with a fluid and suitably supported by the plate 22 and a piston rod 33 ending in a swelling head 34-
A platform 35 carried by the table 21 near its periphery supports a first parai-care mold 36.
A similar platform 37 supports a second parison mold 38. These molds are angularly separated by a distance equal to the gap between the loading chute 25 and the lifting mechanism 27. As a result, when the mold 8 coincides with the loading chute 25 (as shown in solid lines in fig. 3) the mold 36 is placed so as to cooperate with the lifting mechanism and that, when the mold 36
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
is in turn coinciding with the loading chute 25 it is the mold 38 which is in a. position of cooperation with the lifting mechanism 28 as indicated in broken lines in FIG. 3.
Two or more guide rods 39 are attached to the platform 35; they hang below the oelle-oi and can slide in guide tubes 40 which are fixed to the table 21 and to a plate 41 in the form of a sector which is itself fixed to the lower end of the shaft 23.
The platform 35 is provided with a notch which, when the members occupy the positions shown in full milking in the fig 3, receives under conditions ensuring the operation a part of the swollen head 31 of the piston rod 30 of the lifting mechanism. 27. The platform 37 is provided with a similar notch which, when the members are in the positions shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, receives under the conditions ensuring the operation a part of the swollen head 34 of the piston rod 33. of the lifting mechanism 28. The platform is provided with guide rods 43 similar to the guide rods 39 and housed in the same way in guide tubes 44 similar to the tubes, the guide 40.
An alternating wintering motor 45 supplied with a suitable fluid is suitably journalled in the frame 20 of the machine to oscillate about an axis equidistant from the blow mold 26 and the location of the mold 36 shown in FIG. 3. This engine 45 comprises a piston rod 46 fixed under conditions allowing rotation with respect to its cylinder and carrying a finishing ring arm 47 which serves as a suspension for this ring. This is designated as a whole
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
par 48 and is located at a higher level than that of feeds, 36 and 38.
A motor supplied with a suitable fluid and producing an oscillating movement has a key connection 50 with the motor 45. As a result, the operation of the motor 49 rotates the motor 45 and with it the arm 47, giving it a path. which moves the ring 48 between a position coinciding with the location of the mold 36 (see Fig. 3) and a position coinciding with the blow mold 26.
A similar motor 51 is likewise mounted so as to be able to oscillate about an axis equidistant from the blow mold 26 and the location of the parison mold 38 drawn in milking interrupted in FIG. 3. The piston rod 52 of the motor 51 carries an arm 53 from which is likewise suspended a second finishing ring designated as a whole by 54. A motor 55 supplied with a suitable fluid and producing an oscillatory movement is likewise connected to the motor. 51 to move the ring 54 back and forth between a position coinciding with the location of the mold 38 (drawn in dotted lines in Fig. 3) and a position coinciding with the blow mold 26.
Above the rings 48 and ¯54 is suspended an auxiliary frame 56 comprising two parallel guide rods 21 and 58 on which is suitably mounted a carriage carrying the pressing punch. On this carriage 59 is supported a reciprocating motor 60 supplied with a suitable fluid and whose piston rod 61 carries a plunger forming the pressing punch 62.
To the frame 56 is fixed a motor 63 producing an oscillatory movement supplied by a suitable fluid and whose output shaft 64 carries a lever 65 connected by a connecting rod 66 to a mooring member 67 provided on the carriage 59.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
The organs which have just been described have calculated proportions and are studied in such a way that, when they occupy the positions drawn in solid lines in the pins 11 and 12, the punch 62 coincides with the location of ... the ring 54 and the mold 38 drawn in line interrupted in the rod 3 and when, on the contrary, the members occupy the positions drawn in line interrupted in FIG. 11, the punch 62 itself coincides with the ring 48 and the location of the mold 36 drawn in solid lines in the pin 3.
Alternatively and as will be appreciated, separate pressing punch assemblies such as 60-61-62 could be fixedly mounted at the various pressing stations.
The position of the mold 36 drawn in solid lines in the pin 3 may be called "the first pressing station 68". The position of the mold drawn in broken lines in fig. 3 may be called "the second pressing station is. Finally, the position of the mold 38 drawn in solid lines in fig 3 may be called" the filling or loading station 70 ".
During the operation of the machine, it is of course necessary to periodically open and close the finishing rings 48 and 54. The system ensuring the operation of these rings is shown in detail in fig. 2. Since these rings and their actuators are identical, only one is shown in detail and is described below.
A block 71 is suitably fixed to the arm 53 and carries at each end a low-cut end piece such as that
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
which is designated by 72. An inverted rim 73 provided at .l'external end of an element is engaged in order to be able to slide without difficulty on this end piece 73.
This element 73 'is suitably fixed to a piston 74.
A bonnet is provided with an inwardly folded sleeve 76 which is fixed by threads, so as to be adjustable, at the end of the nozzle 72. A coil spring 77 is wound between the elements.
73 'and 75, its opposite ends being housed in cups delimited by the flanges 73 and 76. A jaw 78 of the ring 54 is carried by the piston 74, the other jaw 80 of this ring is carried by a similar piston 79 similarly associated with the opposite end of the block 71. An air inlet channel 81 passes through the arm 53 and enters the block 71 where it forms a connection leaving a channel 82 leading to the piston 74 and a connection 83 leading to the piston 79. When the compressed air arrives in the connections 82 and 83, the pistons
74 and 79 are moved outward to open the ring 54 When the fluid flows through the channel-819 the spring 77 and its counterpart return the pistons so as to close the ring 54.
As shown more clearly in fig. 7. The rings 48 and 54 are suitably shaped internally as shown at 84 to ensure the desired finish of the glass object being produced.
The arm It carries a similar device comprising a piston 85 controlling a jaw 86 of the ring 48 and a piston 87 controlling its other jaw 88.
As clearly represented by Figs. 2, 4 and 9,
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
the blow mold 26 comprises paired jaws 89 and 90 mounted so as to pivot about a common axis 91. A connecting rod 92 is connected at one end to an ear 93 integral with the jaw 90 and at its other end to a lever 94 fixed to a pivoting shaft 95 suitably journaled in the frame 20 of the machine.
A similar articulated system 96 connects under operating conditions the other jaw 89 of the blow mold to a second pivoting shaft 97. By means of a suitable articulated transmission 98, the pivoting shafts 95 and 97 can oscillate in opposite directions by virtue of the reciprocating movement of the piston rod 99 of a reciprocating motor 100. Thus, when this rod 99 advances, the shaft 95 rotates clockwise while the shaft 97 rotates counterclockwise (looking at Fig. 4) so as to close the jaws 89 and 90. When the piston rod 99 moves back, shafts 95 and 97 rotate in opposite directions to open the jaws of the blow mold.
A blower head 107 is carried by an arm 108 fixed to the piston rod 109 of a reciprocating motor 110 supplied with a suitable fluid, the cylinder 111 of which is suitably journalled in the frame of the machine to be able to oscillate around it. a vertical axis under the action of a motor 112 producing an oscillatory movement. Thanks to the operation of this motor 112, the arm 108 can be moved between its position shown in FIG. 2 and a corresponding position with the blow mold.
Due to the operation of the motor 110, the blower head 107 can be moved up and down

to co-operate under conditions ensuring the required seal with the finish of a parison disposed in the blowing mold 26 in order to ensure the oonvenable conformation of the glass object.
A release member designated as a whole by 113 and which can have any suitable construction acts, after the completion of the glass object and the return of the blowing head to the position shown in fig 2, to lift the glass object. 'object out of the then open blow mold and place it on a discharge conveyor or drive it to any other desired point.

When the organs occupy the positions shown in solid lines in FIG. 3, a measured amount of molten glass enters through chute 25 into mold 38, after which motor 24 is started to move table 21 clockwise (looking at fig. 2) until the mold reaches the pressing station 69 and the mold 36 simultaneously reaches the loading station 70. While the mold 38 arrives at the station 69, the notch in its platform acts on the head.
By means of a suitable time distribution device which is designated as a whole by 114 in FIG. 4, the lifting mechanism 28 is now in action to release its piston 33, thereby lifting the platform 37 and the mold 38 to the posttio shown in FIG. 6. As indicated in fig 7, the ring 54 thus bears under the conditions ensuring the seal in the upper end of the mold 38.
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
The motor 60 then acts to push out the piston rod 61 by forcing the punch 62 through the ring 54 and into the mold 8 in which it acts on the charge of molten glass which is in the mold and the pressure. upsets so that it occupies the space between the punch 62, the interior capacity of the mold 38 and the ring to produce the parison 115 having the intended finish.
If the punch 62 then comes back and the lifting mechanism 28 is lowered so that the mold 38 and the punch 62 move away from the parison 115 suspended from the ring 54 as shown in FIG. 8, it occurs that in the meantime a charge of molten glass has been deposited through the chute 25 into the mold 36.
The motor then acts to return the table 21 to the position shown in FIG. 8 to the position drawn in solid lines in FIG. 3. At the same time the motor
55 acts to rotate the arm 53 from its position shown in FIG. 2 up to its position drawn in FIG. 10, while the motor 51 acts to pop out its piston rod 52 thereby lowering the parison 115 into the open blow mold 26. The motor
100 then acts to close this mold 26, and air enters the channel 81 to open the finishing ring µ ± leaving the parison suspended from its finished state in the closed blow mold.
The finishing ring is then lifted and returned to the position shown in fig. 2 while the blowing head 107 is brought into a position of cooperation with the parison which is
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
in the blowing mold and that the glass object is blown to preidre the final shape. In the meantime the carriage 59 has been brought to the position shown in FIG. 9, the lifting mechanism 27 has been operated to lift the mold 36 to its position of cooperation with the ring 38 and the punch 62 has advanced to form a parison in the mold 36 and the ring 48.
As the blow mold 26 is opened, the evacuating mechanism 11 is activated to lift the finished glass object from the open blow mold and deposit it at a suitable point.
It can be seen from the above that the arms 53 and 47 move in turn to come to coincide or on the contrary cease to coincide with the blow mold, that the punch 63 moves alternately to come to coincide with the finishing rings and their respective parison molds, that these latter molds move alternately to coincide with the filling station and that the time required for reheating the parisons, while they are suspended from their respective rings 48 and 54 is heated before 'they are not deposited successively in the blow mold.
It will also be appreciated that both the pressing punch and the lifting mechanisms are actuated by motors which are independent of the motors by which the parisons are transferred to the blow mold, with suitable adjustments made in the dispensing mechanism 114 in. time allow a relatively large range of variations in the heating time of the parisons.
The details of realization can be modified without departing from the invention in the field of technical equivalences.
