ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOPS
FROM CHARLEROI (ACEC)
The invention relates to an insulator made up of unitary elements in cast and hardened resin, assembled together. Such insulators are known per se. The aim of the invention is an insulator composed of particular unit elements, making it possible to achieve very high mechanical and electrical qualities and to facilitate the manufacture of insulators of different heights.
The insulator composed according to the invention is characterized by unit elements constituted by a

base from which two rings start, one on one side, the other on the other side of the base, serving for the mutual interlocking of the unit elements. The interior surfaces of these elements can be metallized.
The invention is explained below with reference to an example of an embodiment shown in the accompanying drawing.
The figure shows a sectional view of a par. tie of a support insulator. The support insulator shown is made up of unit elements 1 of a relatively large diameter, unit elements 2 of a relative diameter. very small and of a unitary element 3 of transition making it possible to pass from one diameter to another diameter. Each element 1, 2, 3 consists of a base 4 in the form of a solid disc and two rings 5 and 6, one 5 of the upper part and the other 6 of the lower side of the insulator with respect to the based. The rings 5 and 6 are shaped in such a way that the unitary pieces interlock along tapered surfaces of the rings. The joint between two rings 5 and
6 different elements is a glued joint.
The glue is first placed on the ring 6 in order to keep part 8 of the seal 7 free of glue. The interior surfaces drawn in coarse line are metallized and electrically connected to each other by a welded wire before assembly or by a leaf spring fixed in a suitable place. Such an insulator can also serve as a capacitive voltage divider.
It suffices to provide connection terminals allowing access to two consecutive metallizations.
