<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

INDUCTION HEATING DEVICE.
The present invention relates to an induction heating device, consisting of one or more induction coils traversed by parts to be heated. Its aim is to ensure a uniform temperature in the heated parts; in particular by compensating for the weakening of the magnetic field at the ends of the coils by reinforcing the ampere-turns at these locations.
There are already induction heating devices in which a main coil is accompanied by an additional, coaxial coil, arranged either
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
inside or outside the main coil.
This additional coil is supplied directly by the heating current or a current proportional to the heating current. Its purpose is to increase the heating of the ends of the parts to be heated and to do this, these additional coils are arranged at the places where the ends of the parts to be heated are located.
The device known above may be suitable in cases where the additional coil can be placed inside the main coil. On the other hand, if the additional coils are arranged outside the main coil, the coupling of the additional coil with the load becomes very weak, which is a drawback.
The invention also makes use of additional coils, coaxial with respect to the main coil, but these additional coils are arranged, not at the places where the ends of the parts to be heated are located, but on the contrary at the places where the field magnetic field of the main coil is little dispersed: that is to say, more towards the middle of the main coil.
According to the invention, the additional coaxial coil is connected in parallel on part of the turns of the main coil and arranged in a field such as the main coil that the no-load voltage induced by the field of the main coil in the additional coaxial coil is greater than the voltage across the part of the turns of the main coil to which the additional, coaxial coil is connected.

The invention is explained below by reference to an example of a particularly advantageous embodiment, shown in the accompanying drawing. FIG. 1 of the drawing represents a view of half of a coil forming part of a heating device according to the invention. The figure
2 shows an electrical diagram of a heating device. Fage according to the invention, using in particular three-phase current.
In FIG. 1, an inductor consists of a winding 1 comprising a large number of water-cooled turns. Winding 1 is coated with a protective layer 2. A terminal 3 welded to a connection 4 for cooling water is used to connect winding 1 to a current supply rail, coming from a generator not shown. An additional coil 5, coaxial with respect to the main coil with the winding 1 is welded to the latter at the location of the terminal 3. The coil 5 is also cooled with water and for this purpose comprises connectors 6 and 7. Electrically, coil 5 is connected in parallel to part of the turns of winding 1, delimited as desired either by terminal 3 and a terminal 8, or by terminal 3 and another terminal 9.
In order to allow a suitable adjustment of the reinforcement of the ampere-turns in the ends of the winding 1, constituting the main coil, several terminals 10, 11, 12 are. provided on different aspirates of the coil 5. Any terminal 10, 11, 12 can be connected to one of the terminals 8 or 9 using a bar.

Figure 1 shows only half of the coil, the other half is symmetrical with respect to the plane of symmetry 16.
The application of the devices according to the figure is particularly advantageous to compensate for the

bllosing of the maKnµ% 14ue field at the ends of juxtaposed coils, supplying P, 4r different phases of a polyphase network. In figure 2, a current generator is constituted by a three-phase transformer represented by its secondary winding 17. The power is supplied by three phases 18, 19 and 20 to which three main coils 21, 22, 23 are connected. , each comprising two additional coaxial coils 24, designed for convenience next to the main coils.
