Improvements made to gas burners.
The present invention @ for object a gas burner provided with a safety device serving to impinge on the gas outlet in the event of a combustion defect or defective combustion.
The problem to be solved by the invention is of great importance. It suffices to think of all the accidents to which persons exposed to the gas coming out of gas cookers, for example, without this gas being burned are exposed.
In many places and many times a solution to the problem of safety in relation to the

For example, devices are known that operate in combination with a thermocouple, but we know that caused by the great weakness of the currents likely to occur
EMI2.2
as a result of very weak tlermi.cluara spreads which are manifested in the burners in question, the action of these currents was quite insufficient to produce in the electro-aimunts a suction force capable of lifting the movable part of the valve to obtain the opening.
The main aim of the present invention is to bring

This auxiliary device takes the form of a hydraulic control capable of opening the

valve, while keeping it in the open position for a while. determined by a tenponaation device, allowing the initial ignition of the gas and maintaining by
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
, then the valve in the open position thanks to the operation of the third-torque.
The action of the thermocouple is exerted during the regular combustion of the gas in the direction of the production of an electro-motive force and consequently by making circulate an electric current in the circuit of excitation of an electromagnet , whose action, while overcoming the force.antagoniste of a spring due ment calibrated serving to retain the valve by reluctance to non-seat, maintains the latter in its open position; in the event of a combustion defect, said valve is forced to remain in its seat, thanks to the action of said spring.
The device used to ensure the initial opening of the vulva therefore comprises a hydraulic circuit controlled by a pusher, the pressurized oil acting on the seat of the gas distribution valve, to lift the valve and allow the passage of the fluid. and its ignition by any suitable means; the time required for this operation is measured by a timing device which, by acting on the speed of the gas flow or the return of the oil, determines the instant of opening of the gas distribution valve.
The simplicity of the device allows its application even to burners already in service, that is to say installed in stoves, stoves and other similar devices a function, of any type of construction.
The object of the invention will be better understood by reading the following description of an embodiment, given here exclusively by way of example, while referring to the attached drawings, in which, the thread, - tire 1 is a partial sectional view of the elevation of the burner fitted with the safety device according to the invention, FIG. 2 shows on a larger scale the actuated valve

FIG. 4 shows, also on a larger scale, a detail relating to the hydraulic pump used to control the initial opening of the gas distribution valve; Figure 5 shows, still on a larger scale, a detail of the hydraulic circuit of Figure 3 and relating to the timer, and Figure 6 shows the application of the device of the invention to several burners equipped with the device according to the last and sarvant to monitor several gas stoves installed in the same room.
Returning to the accompanying drawings, 1 denotes the gas inlet pipe, connected at 2 to the supply and opening at 3 to the thermo-couplo valve A.
By 4 we have indexed the body below the valve / \, with which the opening 5 is in communication; through this opening traps a rod G forming part of the subsidiary hydraulic control device for the initial opening of the gas distribution valve, opening (it would otherwise not be in mosure to obtain the thermo-couple, this thanks to the action of the Electromagnet.
On the body 4 lower than the valve A there is provided the connection 7 for the channel 8 for distributing the gas going to the burner.
The thermocouple valve A is formed by a casing or cylinder 9, on the body of which is connected a cap 10 for the gasket tight to the passage of gas with the thermo-couple 11, the bulb 12 of which is arranged in the vicinity of the flame emanating from the burner.

The two poles of the thermocouple 11 - yes batteries are not shown in the drawing - run up to the excitation circuit - also not shown in the drawing - of an electromagnet 13, whose suction action s 'exerts on a small' piston 14 carrying at its end the small tanne 15 resting more or less on the seat of the valve of the conduit 5.
EMI5.2
The burner titl: 11rt. off, the thermo-couple does not exert any pressure on the small piston 14, so that the latter, under the action of a helical spring 16, tends to push down the small taaae 15 against the seat of the valve. The valve therefore closes and the gas has no possibility of reaching the burner B.

It is for this purpose that the tiiermo-ooupio has been provided with the auxiliary device w8mentionnd ,. which is <or'6 <M in order to operate the U a hydraulic equipment and for the envy tt1t1porisute \; r, eghlemant vuxmentioned.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
According to the invention, the device comprises a small oil pump C (Figure 3) of the diaphragm type, actuated by a control pusher 17. The action of this pusher is exerted on a mombrane 18 which, by 'deforming, determines a certain pressure on the oil, sending it through a valve 19, upper, provided with a double-cone orifice and carrying a small ball 19a.
The pipe 20 is connected to said valve and from this pipe branch off the branches 20a for the burners to be monitored and designated by B.
It should be mentioned here that a single pusher 17 and a single pump C can supply several burners.
The duct 20a is connected with the opening 21, provided at the lower base of the cylinirou body 4, uur which the small disc 22 rests at the end of the rod 6.
When pushing the pusher 17, the prosuion of oil or any other fluid or liquid is sufficient to lift the small dispoue 22, so that the rod 6, overcoming the force of the spring 16, raises the turn La small cup 15 from its seat, allowing the distribution of gas to the burner B.
In other words, the hydro-mechanical device produced at the start of the operation for which it is being charged, without interruption (with very low energy consumption) by means of the thermoelectric cell 11.
The intervention of the pressurized oil must last a certain time (ae 30 to 45 seconds) in order to allow the material operation of the ignition of the burner B and of the reheating of the thermopile bulb.
For this purpose, with the aim of prolonging the action of the pressurized oil, a tempering device has been provided which consists of a small antagonist pump D delay.
