<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

Le schéma de la fig. 7 représente .le disque 9 (supposé translucide) dans sa position extrême, suivant la flèche f' sur la fige 6. Dans cette position le* orifices borgnes 92, 93, 94 du disque 9, sont disposée de façon à établir la communication entre respectivement 6 et 7 ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
Au cas où le Volume des canalisations 4 et 5 suffit pour réaliser le Volume désiré d'échantillon de fluide à étudier, l'emploi de la capacité 91 peut être supprimé par l'établissement d'une liaison directe entre les raccords 14 et 15. ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>

FLUID DOSING DEVICE
The present invention relates to a new method for the introduction of predetermined doses of one fluid into another; it is particularly quick to deal with those where the receiving fluid is in motion, namely in the state of a gas or liquid stream.
The invention also relates to a new fluid metering device, for carrying out this process. More specifically, the device is in the form of a valve allowing the introduction of desired quantities of a fluid into the device. 'other*
In industry, we often need to mix
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
. a gas or a liquid, well-determined doses of one or more other fluids 1 It is necessary, in many cases, to carry out these additions repeatedly, or even periodically.
This occurs, for example, in many chemical manufactures, when a reagent or a catalyst must be added, in relatively small doses, to a liquid or gaseous stream. A particular problem arises when the introductions of adequate doses have to take place. at determined times1 this is the case in certain analyzes, in particular in those where the sample to be studied is carried along by a current of carrier fluid, into which it is necessary to introduce, at the times of the analyzes, the suitable quantity of sample .
Numerous metering devices are known, but, when it comes to delicate operations, requiring precision and perfect reproducibility of the doses of fluid to be introduced, difficulties are often encountered with the devices of the known art.
The present invention overcomes the defects of known systems, by allowing the introduction of very constant doses, at determined times, as close together or as far apart as one wishes, from one fluid to another It makes this introduction possible for fluids moving.
Another advantage of the invention is that it allows the fully automatic operation, at an intro frequency. Easily adjustable functions. The method and device of the invention are thus suitable for very varied industrial applications, and particularly for the chemical or / and physical analysis of gases, vapors or liquids * They give remarkable results in taking samples for

gas chromatographic analysis, which was very useful, widely used today *
The new method according to the invention consists in connecting the series, momentarily and in a sealed manner,
in circuit 4 ′ a receiving fluid, a calibrated volume, completely filled with fluid to be introduced into said receiver after this introduction, said calibrated volume is connected to a circuit containing fluid to be introduced, in order to be filled again with this latest.
According to a particular feature, the connection of the calibrated volume in the circuit of the receiving fluid is carried out by; a pivoting or rotating movement of an appropriate member
The caliber volume connection movement can be controlled automatically *
This metering device according to the invention comprises a fixed body, provided with at least two groups of pipes *, the first of which forms the circuit for the receiving fluid, the second serving as a circuit for intredustian fluid (or fluids to be metered), and a movable member, carrying one or more passageways, each of which is capable of fitting, in a sealed manner, into each of said circuits.
The device may further include one or more fixed body dance cavities or / and in the movable member, the volumes of these cavities being suitably calibrated and connected to the corresponding passageways.
In a particular embodiment 'the calibrated volume (s) are adjustable by known means, for example using screws which can be driven more or less into these volumes *
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
A special embodiment of the device, intended for the introduction of doses of a liquid into a gas, comprises heating means to vaporize the liquid contained in the calibrated volume.,
The device has, of course, means for moving said movable member, so as to connect each of the passageways of this member sometimes in one and sometimes in the other of said circuits.
In a preferred embodiment, the movable member is journalled on an axis, and it is mounted so as to connect its passageways in the fluid circuits by rotation or oscillation around this axis.
/ The passageways of the mobile organ can; connect axially, perpendicularly or at any angle, to the corresponding pipes of the fixed body * Thus, this connection is axial in a very simple form of execution, in which the sebile organ is instituted by the core of a tap, à au Sparrows ways, tap whose body is crossed by channels corresponding to each of these ways,
A particular, highly advantageous embodiment comprises a rotating disc,
as a movable member cooperating with the fixed body of the device, the passageways are grooves in one of the faces of the disk, this face is applied in a sealed manner, but movably, to a corresponding face of the fixed body, in which the inlets and outlets of the groups of pipes for fluids, which the fixed body comprises.

According to the embodiment of the invention, shown in Figures 3 to 5 of the drawings, the metering valve comprises a fixed body 1 in this body are formed supply and return pipes, on the one hand for, the fluid to be studied, and on the other hand for a receiving or vector fluid in which it is desired to introduce at least one sample of the fluid to be studied.
In FIGS. 3 to 5 are shown t at 2 the inlet pipe for the fluid to be studied, at 3 the outlet pipe for this fluid, at 6 the inlet pipe for the carrier fluid, for example a gas, and at 7 the outlet duct of the latter.
One of the ends of each of the conduits 2-3- .4-5-6-7- opens onto the same face 8 of the body 1 of the valve, face 8 with which a movable member such as the distributor disc 9 cooperates.
This distributor disc 9, the holding of which against the face 8 of the body 1 is ensured by its axis of rotation 10 and a set of elastic washers 11 has the role of switching at will the circuits corresponding to the conduits defined above.
For this purpose, the disc 9 is provided, on its face in contact with the face 8 of the body 1, with a plurality of grooves or blind holes 92, 93, 94 and 95 shown in FIG.
@ @@ To understand the operation of the valve of figures 1 to 3, it is advisable to refer to the diagrams of figures 7 and 8, @ Figures' 3, 4, 5,7 and 8 show that at each pipe 2 to 7 corresponds to a connector 12 to 17 arranged at the
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
periphery of the valve body each of these connections is, through the corresponding conduit! in direct connection with the end of the duct opening onto the face
8 of the valve body 1 * Inside said valve body 1 there is therefore, as shown in the diagrams of fig @ 7 and 8,
direct communication between 2 and 12, 3 and 13, 4 and 14, 5 and 15,
6 and 16, 7 and 17.
On the pins 7 and 8 the reference mark 91 represents a calibrated volume, an important element of the device according to the invention: this Volume 91 is connected to outputs * 14 and 15.
The diagram in fig. 7 represents the disc 9 (supposedly translucent) in its extreme position, following the arrow f 'on the pin 6. In this position the * blind holes 92, 93, 94 of the disc 9 are arranged so as to establish communication between 6 and 7 respectively;
2 and 4: 3 and 5, while 95 does not communicate with anything.
The fluid circuits, corresponding to this first position, are therefore: carrier gas arrived at 16, output at 17 passing through 16, 6, 7, 17; - fluid to be studied: arrival. in 12, $ nettle in 13 via the circuit 12-2-4-14-91-15-5-3-13 which includes a calibrated volume 91.
If the disc 9 is rotated in the opposite direction: following the arrow f "in fig.6, up to the new extreme position, we arrive at the arrangement of fig.8. blind port 92 no longer connects anything, 93 connects 4 with 6, instead of 4 with 2 previously,
94 connects 5 to 7, while 95 connects 2 to 3. By play
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
from 044, new communications, 1 volume caliber 91 is this time in4 the carrier gas circuit
16-6-4-14-91-15-5-7-17.
Thus, the desired quantity of fluid to be studied, which in the position of FIG. 7 filled capacity 01, is now driven by the carrier gas.
In the event that the Volume of lines 4 and 5 is sufficient to achieve the desired Volume of sample of fluid to be studied, the use of the capacity 91 can be eliminated by establishing a direct connection between the connections 14 and 15. ;
The device for [controlling the disc 9 comprises a piston 18 moved in a bore 97 of the body 1 of the valve, the piston mechanically connected to the disc 9 by a drive pin 19, the end of which penetrates a buttonhole 96 formed in said disc (Figures 5 and 6).
This piston 18, the heads of which are provided with sealing points 20, can move longitudinally in the bore 97 of the valve body all the effect of two solenoid valves 23 and 24 shown schematically in Figure 3. This movement may optionally be achieved using a solenoid valve and a continuous supply of compressed gas, as shown alternatively in Figure 9.
In the first case, the bore 97 is connected at each of its ends by connectors 21 and 22 to two solenoid valves 23 and 24.
In the 1st position, the solenoid valve 23 introduces, through 21, compressed gas, for example air up to 5 kg of pressure * The piston-18 is thus pushed into the position shown in fig. 3, while the solenoid valve 24 does not introduce air and 'puts the outlet 22 to atmosphere *
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
In the 2nd position, the solenoid valve 24 introduces the air compressed by 22, while the solenoid valve 23 puts the outlet 21 to the atmosphere: the piston 18 is then driven out at the other end of its housing. The sealing is ensured by the sealing rings 20 mounted as a floating seal.
The drive shaft 19 moves at the same time as the piston 18, and turns the disc so as to bring it into its second position, for example at 60 relative to the first *
This assembly is recemmandable when the carrier gas is at a high pressure which requires a fairly strong clamping of the disc 9 on the body 1 through the inter-. medial of a nut 25, goes up on axis 10, which introduces friction *
In the variant of FIG.
9 a solenoid valve 25 cooperates with the connector 21, at one end of the bore 97, while the other end of said bore is connected to a continuous supply of compressed gas, by means of a conduit 26, opening into the bore 97, and a fitting 27.
To be able to use, for both sides of the. piston, the same source of compressed air, it should be said- *; To reduce the pressure application surface from the side of the continuous supply * For this purpose the piston 18 is provided, at its end opposite to the solenoid valve, with an extension rod 28 which also allows manual manipulation.
When the compressed air is introduced at 21 by the solenoid valve 25, the readiness of both sides of the piston is the same. But the surfaces of application of these two pros- sions are different.
The piston 18 is driven towards the
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
right position (fig. 9).
In the 2nd position, the solenoid valve 25 puts
21 to the atmosphere in this case the compressed air, arriving by
27, returns the track, on the left.
The metering valve shown in the figures
3 to 5, as well as its variant embodiment of FIG. 9, can also be provided with heating means intended to maintain the temperature of the valve at a value above ambient * For this purpose, the body of the 'valve housing 29 (fig.5) in which can be introduced a heating resistance.
This first embodiment of the device according to the invention is intended in particular, although not exclusively, for the introduction of the gas to be studied into a carrier gas. A second embodiment of the valve according to the invention is intended more especially for the introduction of a liquid into a carrier gas circuit.
According to this second embodiment, illustrated by Figs. 10 and 11, the valve comprises a body 30 abc provided with a longitudinal bore 30d, in which takes place an axis 31 provided, in the vicinity of its end, with a weighing transverse 31a. The axis 3) is movable inside the wound 30d, between two limit positions, under the effect of the movements of a piston 32, sliding in a bore 3Qd formed in the body of the valve, the piston of which is integral with the axis 31.
The control of the movements of the piston 32 is analogous to that already described with regard to the first embodiment, namely: two solenoid valves connected actively by the connections 33 and 34 with the bore which of the
