<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
suitable welding machine.
It is thus perfectly possible to form a single piece consisting of the upper and lower members and the web. In addition, we even have the possibility, where the profile of the section allows it, to form, the upper chord and the lower chord together with the yoke from a single element, for example we form d 'a cold section and then weld the free wings of this section, in another operation, to the conat element:.
On the other hand, the present invention relates. , a method for making profiled stringers, assembled by welding from at least two separate elements, using a starting material preferably consisting of strips.
The manufacture of such sills following the process practiced to date gives rise to a series of drawbacks.
These games mainly consist of the individual items. must be performed in several separate operations and pulls adapted. to each other as to their length, after which only they can be fine together at a welding machine, in which they have yet to undergo dressing. It often happens that due to the warping which occurs during welding, the welded beam has to undergo additional dressing during another operation. The manufacturing and installation costs involved in this process are obviously extremely high.
The above drawbacks are eliminated, following the present invention, by the fact that all the operations carried out on the individual elements such as drilling, notching, stamping, molding and profiling, as well as the welding of the various elements to each other and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
division of a welded beam into usable lengths, mounted in an uninterrupted series in a single installation. Essentially, this represents a judicious combination of various workgroups and machines in one unit.
The different groups and devices for processing the various elements can be arranged side by side, staggered one behind the other or superimposed.
When using a starting material in a strip form, this can be led, on the field or flat, through the first part of the manufacturing plant, so that after the execution of the work cycles in the part in question, the elements already occupy the correct relative positions, which they must occupy with a view to their assembly by welding in the following welding machine.
Nevertheless, and with the aim of creating optimal working conditions, it may prove to be advantageous to drive the various sections of the beam, prior to their drying, through the various working groups, in such a way that they do not come to occupy the correct relative positions only immediately before being welded to each other, for example through doubling loops.
The method suggested according to the present invention is distinguished by shorter execution times and therefore by lower manufacturing costs, compared to known methods. Thanks to the suitable adjustment possibilities and the addition of special groups, it is possible to perform the various rain profiles. On the other hand, the welding process to be applied is determined by the desired quality of the joint to be welded and by the speed of * oudage.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
According to another suggestion of the invention - applicable where parts placed end to end or approached or superimposed on each other at an angle are called & be fixed to each other by brazing, instead of being welded - the solder is preferably applied in the form of a sheet, prior to the docking of the parts, on at least one edge of each junction point, this application being carried out by means of juxtaposition by rolling or superposition by rolling. The solder superimposed by rolling can surround the edge in the manner of a corner piece or a U. It is understood that for this purpose it is necessary to use a solder suitable for the thickness of the starting material and the other soldering conditions.
To ensure better adhesion of the solder, the surface of the edges of the parts is slightly streaked, which can be carried out, in connection with the application by juxtaposition or overlapping rolling, by means of pressure rollers @. The mixture or the @ can be combined, as is known in itself, with a special brushing operation, serving to clean the metal.
Further, and in accordance with a method also known per se, the application of the solder sheet by juxtaposition or overlap rolling can be combined with the application of a flux, this operation consisting in passing both the sheet of solder that the edge to be soldered of the work piece, in contact with rolls of felt or rubber, impregnated.
Therefore, the solder sheet applied by juxtaposition by rolling or overlapping or overlapping by rolling, as described above, adheres to the workpiece so strongly that, when necessary and advantageous, this part can. still be * or-
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
setting to other operations. However, in the latter. These, it is more advantageous not to apply the flux to the solder spot $ free of solder foil, only a short time before the soldering.
The parts thus prepared * can be brazed in continuous operation, in a semi-automatic or fully automatic manner, taking into account the quantity and nature of the parts in work.
In the semi-automatic method, the parts are placed in a ventilation device and are firmly secured against each other, without taking into account a soldering gap. @ important to employ essential. The braking elements are elastic, so that the clamping force is also maintained during the braking process. It is advantageous to make the elasticity of the clamping elements adjustable, so that also for this reason it is recommended to use pneumatic or hydraulic clamping devices.
The heating of the parts to the brazing temperature can be ensured, as is known per se, using torches or electric means.
In the fully automatic soldering process, the overlap rolling solder foil application, flux application, workpiece docking and soldering process are carried out in one continuous flow. ..
In the case of light steel beams produced by the above process and consisting of an upper chord and a lower chord, as well as a corrugated web fixed between these chords, it is advantageous to make the junction between the frames and the web corrugated by welding or brazing.
To further increase the rigidity of such a power

The manufacture of a beam or sill formed by three ventilation elements described below with reference to the schematic representation of FIG. 1. The problem to know, if the three manufacturing paths for the different elementa - paths which, in principle, can be constituted in an identical way up to the place of 'OR. dage - must be juxtaposed, staggered one behind the other or superimposed, will be solved taking into account considerations of efficiency, available space and the nature of the parts to be executed. The adopted arrangement determines the realization of the different execution groups.
In the examples shown, three production trajat @ are arranged side by side. The starting material is preferably constituted by bands in rings 1, 2 and 3. These rings unwind from reels 4, 5 and 6. bands can pull welded to each other in the welders 13,14 and 15, which succeed the shears.
In order to avoid an interruption of the work during the welding, reserves of bands can be formed under the end of the doubling loops 16, 17 and 44, downstream of the welding point. Sets of drive rollers 18, 19 and 20 are advantageously added to the doubling loops.
These rollers are followed by groups of presses 21, 22 and 23 for drilling, notching, stamping and punching. Given the intermittent working mode of the presses, loops are also provided upstream and downstream thereof, the feed of the strip being controlled by means of guide rollers 24a and o, 25a and b, thus which 26a and b. The three profiled strands are then brought together.
It is important to achieve an exact synchronization of the different strands, which can be achieved in various ways, for example, by means of controlled loops 30 and 31.

Welded beam is cut to usable length * desired, by means of a flywheel cutting system, pre- ((rance a scifl 35.
The installation shown in 1 ** fit. 2 is a simplified version of the installation of FIG. 1. In the variant of the rod 2, a series of operations has been eliminated and some downtime has been knowingly accepted, for example when the wings are placed in the starting material crowns.

oblong holes on either side of the lm *, these holes to be used to receive fasteners. The core 40, which is 4 * udie at points 38 and 39, is provided with longitudinal moldings. The corrugated lady beam following the Ii ,. 4- presents soft ** 41 and 42 of unequal width, of which the borda are also rolled. Corrugated Ltime 43 is fixed to the soles by discontinuous or continuous welding.
Applying a foil of overlap rolling solder to the edges of a strip-shaped piece.

de will be explained below with and referring to the schematic representation of i'ig. 5.
This strip-shaped piece can be fed to the application device by overlapping rolling 4, in the form of a cut section or of a strip wound in a crown. The edges c of the strip are lightly aired

The edges of the strip then pass into contact with rolls of felt, which apply the flux. Solder foils f unwind from coils g, while felt rolls h apply flux to the faces of the solder foil. The latter then passes between the shaping and pressure rollers i, k and 1.
The flux can be applied if necessary only after the sheet has been applied by overlap rolling.
, Fig. 6 shows a piece in the form of a strip, on which a sheet of brasurt. was applied by overlapping rolling. The solder foil is normally 0.1 to 0.3 mm thick and covers the edges of the part by a few millimeters.
The example of line 7 represents a fully continuous execution of profiled and brazed beams. The starting material is preferably constituted by a strip wound on rings 1, 2 and 3. These rings unwind from reels 4, 5 and 6. The strips can then pass through leveling machines and devices for welding the ends of the coil. bands to each other.
While the outer rolled strips 1 and 3 are passed through profiling devices 27 and 29 the middle strip 2 first passes through a device 47, shown in dashed lines, for the application of the solder sheet by overlapping rolling. , device which has been explained in more detail with regard to the rolling system following the rod 5. The middle strip 2 then passes through a so-called "corrugating" machine 48.
Then the application of the flux to the middle strip takes place as described above in connection with the application of the roll solder sheet. overlap,

the splitter can be applied to the two outer bands, after profiling, using devices * 49 and 50. The three profiled strands are then brought together, namely, in a docking device 51, constituted by advantage @ ement by several profiled rollers. The pressure force of each individual roller is adjustable separately.
The brazing takes place with the aid of a known heat source, for example a flame line, a lathe or electrical means, where 52 shown in dashed line. After brazing, followed by cooling carried out in the usual manner, and which may not be accompanied by removal of the flux residue, the beam 2 can be cut into usable lengths by means of a Here. flying 35.
The light steel beams shown in the drawings can also be made in any conceivable combination.
On the other hand, it is of course understood that the method according to the invention is advantageously applicable to all possible geometric bodies, as well as to small-format elements, this in a more or less modified form.
