" DISPOSITIF DIDACTIQUE POUR FACILITER L'ENSEIGNEMENT
DE LA DACTYLOGRAPHIE. "

L'invention a pour but do remédier à ces inconvénients.

"TEACHING DEVICE TO FACILITATE TEACHING
OF TYPING. "
The object of the invention is a keyboard cover intended to facilitate the teaching of daotylosraphy.
It is well known that the correct practice of typing depends essentially on the method applied to the teaching of the first notions! (if

the pupil takes bad habits at the beginning, it will be very difficult for him to correct them afterwards and his typing speed will be seriously affected. * There is no doubt that the best teaching method is to force the pupil to learn to know the respective position of letters and signs, without looking at the keyboard; to achieve this result, a long training is necessary.
Some method consists in using writing machines, the keyboard of which has blank keys; the pupil must therefore find the exact position of the letters and signs from a standard keyboard intended for a large scale and hung either on the wall or on the board.
When machines with blank keyboards are not available, the student is forced to place an eoran on his keyboard, so that he cannot look at the keys and only refers to the large drawn keyboard, hung on the Such a keyboard cover is generally made by the student himself or by the teacher, in cardboard or wood, and its stability, hence its effectiveness, is often far from perfect.
The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks.
The system recommended in the invention consists in the use of a support consisting of a round iron bar, bent in such a way that it can be used on any type of typewriter. On this support is welded * a sheet, whose shape allows

the access and normal movement of the commando lever of the longitudinal movements of the carriage.
This plate with its support will form a unit of great stability, which airs placed above the keyboard of the typewriter, thus effectively hiding the keys from the sight of the pupil.
The said plate will have on its front face a three-sided housing, made of sheet metal, plastic or the like, into which the pupil can slide either a complete reproduction of the keyboard, or partial reproductions of it. - here adapted to the various lessons being the subject of the applied method. when the pupil has learned to know the exact location of the letters and signs, the text of the first training exercises can be slipped into said slot.
These keyboard or text reproductions will thus serve as a guide for the pupil; since the keyboard itself is hidden, the pupil will be forced to find the exact location of the letters and signs by trial and error using "guide keys" designated in the applied teaching method.
The attached drawings will better show the scope of the invention.
Fig. 1: the support foot is shown at 1, the keyboard cover plate is shown at 2.
Pin 21 shows a view, on a larger scale, of the keyboard cover plate, with no housing 3 designed to receive an image 4.
The support foot 1 is made by means of a drawn steel bar, bent so as to ensure a

perfect stability and to be able to adapt itself above the keyboard of any typewriter of current model: the support is posed on the table so as to frame the keyboard.
The drawn steel bar forming the support will be bent on one side at a right angle, on the other side so as to receive the welded plate with its cutout provided to allow access and handling of the longitudinal return lever of the carriage. the height of the key cover. Vier aéra determined so as to easily allow the pupil to type on the keys of the keyboard, the latter nevertheless being completely hidden. the keypad cover plate 2 made of sheet steel, plastic or similar thin material, will be fixed by welding, screws or similar means to the foot serving as a support.
It will be cut so as to allow easy operation of the longitudinal return lever of the carriage. the most suitable form is that shown in fig. 2, the cutout 5 being made at right angles to the middle of the length of the plate.
The housing 3 shown in FIG. 2 is made of sheet metal welded to the plate on 4 using a plastic rod; it will allow the student to slip the complete or partial image of a keyboard into it. or the text of an exercise will result. A set of partial reproduction of the keyboard, interchangeable reproductions, will allow the pupil to progress in his study according to a program fixed by the teacher.
