Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  "Strip of crimped-like fabric"
There are known fabrics for mixed yarn garments consisting of polyester fibers and wool in a ratio of 55 parts by weight of polyester fibers and 45 parts; by weight of wool.

   Said fabrics, because of their tendency to pilling, must have a smooth surface which is as grated as possible. Fabrics are also known which are formed in one direction of endless polyesters and in the other direction of blended strands made of polyester fibers and wool in a ratio of 55 to 45.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 Chage, fabrics of this kind should also be finished in such a way that they have a smooth and grated surface.

   However, said fabrics do not satisfy. generally not with the demands placed on them with regard to their touch and tendency to pilling, so it. only lend themselves to certain uses *
The present invention relates to a fabric of the melton, crimped or velvet flannel type, the warp and / or the weft of which consist entirely or partially of a mixed yarn consisting of 25 to 45% of linear aromatic polyester fibers and of 75 to 55% wool or cotton or synthetic fibers based on cellulose hydrate or cellulose derivatives. The fabric web is further subjected to a fulling and / or woolen process.

   Fibers used in the new fabric strip from aromatic polyesters (e.g. from polyethylene terephthalate or from a polycondensation product of terephthalic acid with 1,4-dimethylolcyclohexane) should only have a weak tendency to pilling. This object is achieved by preferably using polyester fibers obtained by the process of Belgian patent No. 607,203.

   The fabric web according to the invention is distinguished in particular by good bulk stability, pleasant wool-like feel and good heat retention as well as by very low pilling tendency.

   The weft or the chain of the fabric web according to the invention can also be formed entirely or partially by polyester yarns or twisted polyester yarns or mixed plied polyester yarns without fine.

   The polyester fibers used in the manufacture of the fabric strip according to the invention can be matt or shiny * They can have a round cross section or also a cross section which differs from the circular shape (section

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 transverse profile). Further, the polyester fibers may be wholly or partially hollow. For some uses it is advantageous if the new fabric is made in one direction of endless polyester yarns and in the other direction of mixed yarns from polyesters and wool in the above ratio.

   The single attached figure represents an embodiment of the new fabric strip. It goes without saying that Modifications can be made to this embodiment as regards the structure or the structure of the fabric.
