A, arrêtent
B (2.$00/3.000 A).
Composition for tanned skin coloring
The present invention relates to a composition for providing instant, indelible and lasting tanning of the skin.
This object is achieved, in accordance with the invention, by applying to the skin a composition characterized by the combination, in a suitable cosmetic base, a) of one or more coloring materials, b) of at least one reducing sugar intended to act on protein, epidermal matter and c) an anti-solar filter ensuring at the same time the transformation of the burning solar rays into tanning solar rays.
The coloring materials used, soluble or insoluble, make it possible to give the skin, immediately, the appearance of natural tanning by the sun. For this purpose, the dyes or pigments widely used, for example, in cosmetic foundations, may be chosen, giving preference, in particular, to mixtures of iron oxide and titanium oxide.
The reducing sugar produces the tanning of the superficial layers of the epidermis by action on epithelial protein materials, as well as on certain nitrogenous elements of skin secretion when urea, according to the known reaction known as the "Maillard reaction" (Academic report des Sciences 1912-1916). This reaction results in a coloration having approximately the same appearance as the tan obtained by exposure to the sun.
This pigmentation takes place over 1 to 4 hours, and the brown coloration is localized only
to epithelial cells of the stratum corneum. It disappears as the desquamation progresses in a time of 5 to
6 days.
As reducing sugars, the
sugars produced by the controlled oxidation of glycerin
and known by the names of glycerose, oxantine, etc.

Sunscreens are chemicals that extend the exposure time, in order to speed up tanning without causing burns. They provide direct pigmentation of the epidermis by the action of solar U.V. A (solar rays of wavelengths included
between 3,200 and .200 A, i.e. tanning sun rays). These filters, permeable to UV. A, stop
the burning radiation caused by the UV. B ($ 2.00 / 3.000 A).
This direct pigmentation is produced by photo-oxidation of the preformed melanin existing in the epidermis in a reduced form and which is oxidized in
giving a darker product.
In the composition of the invention, it is advantageous to use a particular sunscreen filter, such as the filter used in the sunscreen industry under the
name of "F 29:31". Such fluid accelerates even more
browning, because it has the property not only of protecting from the rays which cause burns, but also of transforming these burning rays into tanning rays by
a phenomenon of fluorescence (which is, in the particular case considered, a transformation of the sun's rays, the wavelength of which is between 2,800 and 3,000 A, into tanning rays whose wavelength is between <EMI ID = 3.1> protection of the epidermis, an acceleration of tanning by increasing tanning solar radiation.
In addition, one can advantageously calculate the dosage of the sunscreen filter so that it allows, for a sufficient exposure time and under controlled protection, to obtain a so-called "indirect" pigmentation, caused by the UV B rays. solar radiation and which triggers an upward migration of melanin granules with stimulation of the formation of new melanin. This indirect pigmentation, which begins about two days after exposure to the sun, does not begin to weaken until one month after orradiation. For this purpose, the content of the filter may be between 1 and 10 parts approximately for
100 parts of the total composition.
The product, comprising the three essential components envisaged above, can be prepared in various forms: solutions., Emulsions, gels, suspensions, which can also be presented either in the form of a lotion or a regular cream, or in preparation in the form of aerosols (by spraying or aerosol foam).
The preparation methods and the cosmetic bases will be chosen depending on the product that is to be obtained.
The cosmetic product allows the user to be tanned in three successive ways by different processes: the first begins with the application of the product, while allowing to acquire the natural tan by the normal process without abrupt variation of appearance .
Indeed, the user benefits from an immediate tan provided by the dyes, followed by an indelible pigmentation from the first hours of application (due to the action of the reducing sugar on the epidermal amino acids), which is followed, in turn, by a progressive direct and indirect malanization which can last several months (and due to the action of the sunscreen appropriately dosed).
It can therefore be seen that the various essential elements listed above contribute to obtaining an overall result which is that of an immediate, indelible and lasting tan, each of the elements playing its role in a determined order in a manner 'epidermis undergo a series of successive operations giving the desired overall result.
In other words, one of the elements ensures the immediate tan while the other elements achieve an indelible pigmentation from the first hours of application, then a direct and indirect melanization that can last several months, the resulting -obtained being a uniform tan which is at the same time, in appearance at least, carried out immediately, then gradually without abrupt variation of aspect as the exposure progresses. Example: By way of nonlimiting example, the following composition may be mentioned which has proved to be particularly effective:
