La présente demande de certificat d'addition se rapporte à des per- fectionnements de structure à des panneaux chauffants tels que des plafonds chauffants ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The present invention relates to changes, improvements and additions to the invention which is the subject of the main patent application filed on April 15, 1958 under the title "Construction elements for heating walls such as heated ceilings.
The present application for a certificate of addition relates to structural improvements to heating panels such as heating ceilings;
Heating panels or ceilings generally comprise heating pipes carrying a heating fluid at a relatively low temperature, for example of the order of 70 to 90 ° C. in the case of circulating water.
Two main difficulties have been encountered in the establishment of such heating panels or ceilings, namely firstly the realization of economical and efficient means to suspend both the pipe or pipe and the elements constituting said ceiling or panel. and secondly means for ensuring good transmission of the heat emitted by the pipe or pipe to the elements constituting the panels or ceilings.
A large number of means have in the past been suggested for supporting heating panels and at the same time the pipe carrying the heating fluid, but these means to be admissible from the point of view of efficiency are expensive and require for their manufacture: a relatively large number of operations.
Similarly, the transmission of heat between the heating pipe and the elements constituting the heating panels or heating ceilings has not hitherto to the knowledge of the applicant been carried out in the manner described above. more advantageous. In this regard, the applicant has discovered that the transmission of heat between the heating pipes and the elements constituting the ceiling or the heating panels at a temperature as low as 70 C to 90 C involves a certain number of factors. problems if one wishes to obtain the best efficiency and a suitable degree of uniformity of heating of the elements constituting the ceiling,
and this in a manner compatible with good heat distribution in the room or rooms provided with such a heating system. One of these problems results from the fact that heat is transmitted from the heating pipe both by conduction through the metal supports of the pipe and the elements constituting the ceiling and by radiation from the pipe. or pipe and thereby creating convection currents in the air surrounding the pipe.
As, on the other hand, it has been observed that the best heating conditions are achieved when the distribution of heat is substantially uniform throughout the elements constituting the panels, it is necessary to obtain a suitable balance between the amount. of heat distributed per square centimeter of the surface of the pipe, the quantity of heat radiated and the quantity of heat transmitted by conduction so that the elements constituting the ceiling are brought to the desired temperature. uniform.
Furthermore'; as in all heating systems intended to maintain a tem-. suitable temperature in one or more rooms, it is necessary that the heat applied is sufficient to compensate the heat losses to the outside. room or room, even if such losses are substantial as occurs when a window or door is opened for a short time, thereby admitting a substantial amount of cold air into the room. @
An object of the present invention is to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks.
Another object of the invention is to provide a type of s-tructure
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
simple and effective for both supporting pipes carrying heating fluids, and for facilitating the joining of the panel elements, the joining of which constitutes a heating panel or ceiling while providing both economical means of construction and efficient in their operation.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide a support structure for a pipe or pipe and for panel elements in which the amount of heat transmitted to the panel or ceiling elements by conduction and radiation is suitably predetermined. ,
According to one characteristic of the invention, the pipe and the ceiling or panel support elements consist of a single sheet of metal suitably curved so as to surround said pipe over more than half of ¯) 'periphery, the upper part said sheet being adapted to be mounted in the ceiling or in a wall of the room and the lower part of said sheet being adapted to support two neighboring ceiling elements.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the cutting of said metal foil is made in such a way that elasticity is introduced to facilitate the insertion of said bent metal foil on the said penalization.
According to yet another characteristic of the invention, said sheet is provided with openings or holes or the like so as to control the quantity of air transmitted by conduction from said pipe to said panel or ceiling elements.
According to another feature of the invention, said curved sheet is of predetermined dimensions and adapted to cover only a part of the length of the heating pipe, other curved metal sheets being provided at suitable places along it. said pipeline.
An additional characteristic of the invention resides in the provision from distance to distance along the heating pipes of additional radiator elements or fins, preferably constituted by a sheet of metal curved so as to be able to be elastically inserted on said pipe or pipe. heater.
The invention as well as its various characteristic objects will be clearly understood by referring to the following description of a limited number of embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 shows schematically in perspective a pipe and a supporting structure of ceiling elements; FIG. 2 represents another exemplary embodiment of the structure shown in FIG. 1;

EMI3.5
fµrenaesInumeric The main difference with the arrangement of the figure
1 is that the metal foil is bent in the part holding the metal pipe 1 so as to constitute a partially semi-cylindrical reinforcement 15, in which said pipe is held.
For this purpose, the metal sheet 1 is bent so as to follow the shape of the pipe 1 over about three-quarters of the periphery of the pipe and the free end of the metal sheet 1 is curved over a very small radius in 16 then bent in the opposite direction along about a quarter of the length of the periphery of the pipe and then bent at 17 so as to provide a lower part 8 to hold the ceiling elements 3 and. 4 This structure can be provided with elasticity given by bulges similar to those shown at 5 and 6 in figure 1.
FIG. 3 shows a different structure in which the metal sheet is fixed in the ceiling or wall by means of nails or bolts passing through holes 18 and 19 for example. For this purpose, the metal sheet 1 is bent as shown in section in Figure 3. One end of the sheet is bent so as to cover about a quarter of the periphery of the pipe 1 and then bent over a small radius at 20 and at an appropriate pitch, the sheet is bent again at 21 to provide a flat portion for securing the assembly against a wall or against the ceiling.
'On the other side of this flat part, a symmetrical curvature at 23 and 24 has been provided, but the part of the metal foil 1 surrounding a portion of the pipe 1 is of such length that not only the metal foil can be surrounded on half of the periphery of the pipeline
1 but the bulges giving elasticity such as 5 can be provided in a lower part 8 comprising a clip-like structure to hold together the two vertical parts 11 and 12 of the ceiling or wall elements 3 and 4.
FIG. 4 shows the case of a plurality of ducts 1, 1 ', 1 "etc. maintaining the ceiling elements in position, said ducts being provided in place in place with fins radiating from the room. their such as 25, 25 ', 24 ". These metal sheets are bent as shown in figure 5. In this figure, 1 shows in section a pipe.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
tion through which circulates a heating fluid.
To increase the heat radiation from the pipe 1 as desired, a metal foil 26, as shown in section in Figure 5, is bent over a small radius 27, then along a substantial part of the periphery of the pipe. the pipe 1, for example over more than three-quarters of said periphery, after which said sheet is bent as shown, along a small radius 28.
By bending the parts 26 and 26 'against each other, it is possible to easily insert the radiating elements 25 and 25' As shown in this figure it is possible to provide a hole 29 for fixing means. to avoid, if necessary, a rotation of the rods around the pipe.
As indicated above, convection air currents are produced in the vicinity of pipe 1 and it has been found advantageous to provide a series of holes in said rods as shown in the figures. 4 and 50 These holes are indicated at 30, 31, 32,33, 34 and 30 ', 31, 32 ;, 33', 34'o The dimensions and distribution of said holes are determined by means of tests.
The invention is obviously not limited to the examples which have just been described and represented because it is general in scope and susceptible of alternatives and variations without departing from its field.
