<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
-pour des installations avec débits variables de 100 à 0%;
DESCRIPTION.

This device is intended for heating by means of live steam, which uses the heat of vaporization as well as the heating heat, any fluid for which a constant outlet temperature is required, and this regardless of the flow rates passing through the exchanger.
This appliance using the maximum calories contained in the steam can be considered as a steam saver.
To do this, 1 exchanger is fitted, at the condensing water outlet, no longer with an ordinary trap, but with a control device acting on the flow rate of the condensed water itself.
This control unit opens or closes the condensate discharge pipe as a function of the power to be ensured. Thus, variable powers are determined by the variations in the level of the condensation water in the tubes of the exchanger.
In short, the total surface of the exchanger consists of two parts
I) The part of the surface below the level of the condensed water which can be used for cooling the condensed water.
If we take into account, on the one hand, that any increase in the level corresponds to a decrease in the condensing surface equal to the increase in the cooling surface, and that any decrease in the level corresponds to an increase of the condensing surface equal to the reduction of the cooling surface, and if we take into account on the other hand that for the same given surface the power determined by the condensation represents several times that which results from the cooling of its cooling water. condensation. it will be understood that the variations in the level of the water in the exchanger are liable to determine variable powers, depending on the ratio between the condensation and cooling surfaces that these variations determine.
Thus the power of the exchanger will reach its maximum, when the exchanger no longer contains any condensation water. Normal power is reached when the level of the condensed water reaches 2/3 of the height of the heat exchange surface. The power of the exchanger is practically zero when it is completely flooded by the condensation water.
The exchange surface is made up of one or more double-walled tubes between which live steam circulates. The fluid to be reheated circulates outside the heating surface. It also circulates inside this heating surface.
The outer part of the double tube has fins perpendicular to the axis of the tube, these fins being intended to increase the surface coefficient of heat exchange. These circular fins have the shape of spirals, and were drawn from the very mass of the smooth tube. The entire exchange surface is coiled on itself according to a certain bending radius. This bending radius can be constant or variable. A variable bending radius allows the fluid to be heated to be better distributed in the heating surface. The volume of vapor contained between the two concentric tubes, forming the vapor condensation chamber, is as low as possible. The distance between the walls is approximately 3 mm.
The volume of water in the closed space between the concentrated tubes is such that the average temperature of the fluid contained in the body of the exchanger does not increase by more than 5 C, when this volume of water comes from vapor condensation. In other words, this amounts to saying that, at zero flow rate for the fluid to be heated, the temperature of this fluid will not exceed the setting temperature by 5 ° C. when the exchange surface is filled to the max. live steam and that at the same time the regulation placed on the condensate water outlet is closed.
This exchanger can therefore be used without any risk of overheating.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
-for installations with variable flow rates from 100 to 0%;
and this even for the case where the regulation consists of a simple magnetic valve acting by "all or nothing".
In addition, the arrangement of the exchange surface makes it possible to distribute the entire mass of the fluid contained in the body of the exchanger, the calories resulting from the phenomenon of overheating.
DESCRIPTION.
The exchanger consists essentially
I) A body which carries an orifice I corresponding to the inlet of the steam and an orifice 2 corresponding to the outlet of the condensation water.
2) One or more finned tubes, transverse, coiled in spirals, the finned tubes are provided inside with a second concentric heating surface, allowing internal circulation of the fluid to be heated.
Live steam and condensation water circulate between the two walls of the tubes.
3) A tube 3 allowing the evacuation of the condensation water,
4) A cover C, on which is welded the pipe I and 2. This arrangement allows easy removal of the exchanger.
